His interviews are solid (especially the Rick Wakeman one) but he's not worth much beyond that. He's a bit too out of touch otherwise.

That wasn't really a knock on Shinedown. I have a couple of their older albums and I think they are a solid band and I completely get why they became popular. My overall issue is that whenever I hear about Rick Beato, he's usually complaining about something in regards to modern music. It just seems to me like he uses his big platform to complain about modern music while not using it to help promote current music that he likes. Perhaps I'm wrong since I've only seen a handful of videos from him but it doesn't seem to me that he balances things out when it comes to what he likes and what he doesn't like in today's music.

Nah you’re dead on. He does have some interesting interviews (although for my money he interrupts his subjects too much), and his old what makes this song great videos used to be great (I don’t think he makes them anymore), but mostly he spends time complaining about bad new music and trying to sell you his music theory books.  I think he did once try to promote Polyphia and then got stuck on the term “boomer bends.” So, like Mick said about him, sit down grandpa. Lol
