The debut, 2112, AFTK, and Hemispheres all have new spatial audio mixes available on Apple Music and Amazon Music Unlimited. Never thought self-titled would receive a remix, but here we are. Is this a sign that we'll get a 50th anniversary release after all?

Dolby is hit or miss for me on some album reissues.

One that missed for me were a few on Purple Rain like Darling Nikki. I’ll stick with the original master by Prince, thank you.

Agreed. Some are pretty underwhelming. But when it's good it's very good.

I'm currently listening to the latest Super Deluxe version of Talking Heads 77. The Dolby Atmos mix is stunning.

I'm assuming this is Richard Chycki's handiwork again? Most of his Rush mixes have been underwhelming to me and don't match up to Steven Wilson's AFTK remix. Will have to see if the new mixes are an improvement.

So now we have Atmos mixes for everything up to Signals except for Fly by Night, Caress of Steel, and Permanent Waves. I wonder why FBN's not there. The multi-tracks should still exist since they were used for Sector 1. Maybe it and COS won't be done until next year for their 50th anniversaries? PeW multis are missing, so of course it's absent.

It's disappointing that all of the synth albums were skipped over, but perhaps they're waiting for the 40th anniversary editions if those are still planned. If that comment on the Grace Under Pressure thread about the deluxe being delayed to spring was correct, then it could be like Signals where the Atmos mix quietly drops on supported streaming services a month before the 40th is announced. So February or March would be my guess if it's happening.

does anyone have links for the atmos mixes on Amazon Music, please?  I can't find them over there.

I think if you have Unlimited, an Atmos icon should pop up when playing a song, provided you have equipment that supports spatial audio. I've got no way to check it myself at the moment, just going by what zepphead said.

For clarity, do you need Atmos-compatible equipment or anything like that to enjoy the maximum effect from these remixes or can on enjoy them with a standard equipment or phone/headphones setup?

Dolby's site claims any pair of headphones will work if you have a device that supports Atmos. You just need to make sure you enable Atmos in the sound settings before trying it out. Most newer devices should be capable of using it. The Moving Pictures and Signals 40th blu-rays sounded decent enough to me on my Xbox Series X after downloading the Atmos app and plugging headphones into the controller. I know it's a weird way to do it, but I figured why not.

Unfortunately, I can't help much with speakers since pretty much all of my music listening is done thru headphones. For speakers, you need a compatible receiver, and I believe there are Atmos-supported soundbars as well.

Apple Music may be more ideal if you have an iPhone or Mac, especially with AirPods since they have special head-tracking support for Spatial Audio.

Yes. I am using Amazon Unlimited music through a Sonos surround system featuring an Atmos compatible Beam soundbar. The Atmos icon appears when playing the albums.

I played most of the the newly available Rush Atmos releases over the weekend. Sadly I was somewhat underwhelmed with the sound.

I felt that nothing really was improved when comparing to the non-Atmos versions.

Disappointing because if Atmos is used well, the sounds can be really good. Dark Side Of The Moon, Revolver, and The Yes Album are good examples.

Sounds like it was Chycki's doing then! Not surprising. Hopefully he doesn't mess up Grace Under Pressure, but I'm not holding my breath.

Do you know if the self-titled remix has any alternate takes? There's a 2012 interview where Alex said some takes were missing, but I guess the multi-tracks have been found over the intervening years.

I'll just post this here for some odd reason:

Is this any good? It contains one of my favourite songs - Theme From An Imaginary Western. A heavyweight guest list also!

I don't know, but it looks good, and with all those people on you can't go wrong really.

The Alex Lifeson guitar solo is pretty good, better than most of his latter day RUSH ones.

It's an unusually dry tone for Alex, that's for sure. Ditto for the EJ solo on Theme from an Imaginary Western.
