Going Monday to see the Utah Hockey Club play the LA Kings in a pre-season game.  I haven't been to the Delta Center since the Grizzlies moved to the Maverik Center (it was built for the hockey games of the 2002 Olympic Games).  Think they will be fun to watch, Coyotes were in contention for a playoff wild card last season but when all the relocation drama started, they had a big losing streak.

I am excited that hockey is ready to start!  :hockey2:

First game at the Delta Center went well, managed a win in OT.  Kinda weird, did the OT then a shootout?  I don't remember seeing this before.  Maybe that's what they did at the Frozen Fury games...

Pluses:  Like the colors and we got decent seats.  Minus: Goal horn is awful, hope they can change that

Brandon Bussi had a rough night in net, allowing four goals in Boston's loss.

New Boston Bruins forward Mark Kastelic came close to a hat trick Thursday night.

Boston Bruins goalie Brandon Bussi in net as he warms up before they play the New York Rangers during NHL pre-season action at TD Garden.Kastelic, who the Bruins acquired this offseason from the Ottawa Senators in the trade of Linus Ullmark, scored a second-period goal and dropped the gloves just over three minutes after finding the back of the net.    There ya go Mark !  :hockey1:

Gonna cash in those preseason points later? Like those coupons worth 1/1000 in cash value?

Yeah, you're right. I don't include preseason games in the Hawks all-time record because then the numbers are even worse.

Utah Hockey beat the Avs Sunday, 6-3.  This was fun to see but won't last.  When they play the AVS Saturday, bet the big guns will be on the ice. Playing against Mac and Makar is a different kettle of fish.  Will be fun to see them in person, very excited :bounce:

Is Utah going to go without a real name?

Just for the first year, they had the fans vote on the name twice, narrowing it down to 6 in late summer.  They are being coy about it but (unfortunately) I think Yeti got the most votes.  They are probably having to work out copyright issues if that is the name.  I think it is dumb to do it this way but the PWHL last season did the same thing and now this year they have picked names.

Personally I think it is silly to make fans buy merchandise twice but I know if it is Yeti, then they aren't getting any of my money.  I bought a t-shirt to wear to the first pre-season so that's it for me.  I'll be wearing my AVS or Hawks jerseys when the Utah team plays them.

So does this complicate your fandom?

Not really, I have always followed multiple teams.  Usually one I am most loyal to (which is the Avs) and the others that have my interest or have players I like.  I was very skeptical that Utah would ever have an NHL team so I am going to support it so I can go to the games and see players from around the league.  My sister and I will get to see 10 games at home which is a good start.    I have multiple jerseys so this way I can get to wear them all

Found a youtube channel for us old-timers. It's called Vinddigs. They show rough stuff highlights from games in the 80s and 90s, but they also keep the score, so there's two things you can root for while watching.
