She was perfect for the role of Olive Oyl.  Excellent performance.

For the last nine months of shooting (The Shining), she said that the role required her to cry 12 hours a day, five or six days a week, and "it was so difficult being hysterical for that length of time".

In an interview with Roger Ebert, she also said that making the film was "almost unbearable, but from other points of view, really very nice, I suppose.

Kubrick was known to be a taskmaster.

James Cameron would have made her cry 18 hours a day.

That pretty much sums up life, doesn't it? Thanks for sharing your art with us, and RIP, Shelly.

That's a nice word for...well, I'm sure you can figure out what I'm saying. Nothing negative intended towards you, of course. I just hate bullies.

Rest in peace, Ms. Duvall. You were one heck of an actress.

Weird coincidence: I had never seen Brewster Macleod, so I watched it on July 9th. Two days later it was announced she had passed away. That's gonna haunt me for a little bit.

I get it. He's one of my favorite directors but the fact that he was a jerk to the people acting and doing other stuff makes me like him less as a person.
