Why didn't you put Devo debut up against Costello's debut?

My Aim Is True would have killed Devo. But for me I'll take the Devo debut over This Year's Model

Both are landmark releases. But for me the Costello stuff edges it.

Gosh! This got me thinking about 1978 - It was the first time I saw Rush live (February 1978 Hammersmith Odeon London).

So while all the trendies were getting into Elvis Costello, Devo etc etc. I was still a confirmed progster dinosaur listening to bands like Rush.

It makes me smile looking back to those days. Punk/New Wave made great sweeping statements about having 'killed' the old school rock bands ...... how wrong was that lol!!

Costello easy.

I need to try Devo again. Never liked what I heard, but it's been awhile

DEVO for both.  Their debut is one of the best records ever.

Uncontrollable Urge would be a better song matchup

I will seek out Elvis Costello on occasion, I never seek out Devo.

Costello is an artist I know is a fave to be, just haven't had lots of time the last two years to dive into discographies like I used too.

Devo? Honestly don't like anything I heard, whether on the radio or when I tried albums. I think they suck to be honest.

Castello is honestly one of my all timers.  his work from.... get this........1977-1996.... is amazing.  that's a 19 year run for me, lol

also his recent 3 albums have been a major revitalization IMO.

Devo.........not a style i enjoy.....that's what it comes down too. Costello did new wave-y things too.  But he makes it more palatable for me.

When we did a couple of Costello binges, it was just all brilliant. It was kinda relentless. A discography hard to ration, you can just spin one record after another record effortlessly.
