IbanezJem Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 I`ve always enjoyed his performances, particularly in Glengarry Glen Ross and The Kominsky Method. RIP. 2
invisible airwave Posted June 30, 2023 Author Posted June 30, 2023 I may get into that show now. Good cast with him and Douglas but the Chuck Lorre style of humor in his shows doesn’t gel with me. Can’t forget THE line in Argo. ”Argo F yourself!” 1
treeduck Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Damn another great one gone. And now both Freebie and the Bean have checked out. RIP Alan 1

1-0-0-1-0-0-1 Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Arkin and Peter Falk were perfectly cast in The In-Laws. And the part of Aaronow in Glengarry Glen Ross was perfect for him. RIP. 5

blueschica Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 (edited) RIP, Alan Arkin. He was hilarious in The In Laws! I had forgotten until I saw the news tonight that one of his earlier movies was "The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming." It is hilarious and well done. He plays the lieutenant on a Russian sub that has run aground in New England because the crew had wanted to see "what America looked like." In this scene, he is teaching his crew what to say to get the townspeople to stay inside until they can find a way to move the sub. His grandparents were Russian immigrants and he is really speaking Russian here. He will be missed! Edited July 1, 2023 by blueschica
zepphead Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Sad to hear this news. He was a very fine actor. RIP Alan.
goose Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 "There are flames on my car!" He was hilarious in the In-Laws, and a perfect villain in Wait Until Dark 3
BastillePark Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 No mention of the movie he actually won the Oscar for? "Little Miss Sunshine" was a fantastic movie. He played such a great character as the grandpa. 3

Sonatine Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 The only films I know of Arkin, were "Freebie and the Bean" and "Glengarry Glen Ross" In both instances, Arkin was the stand-out character, especially the latter when up against virtuoso performances from the likes of Pacino and Lemmon.
