I'm not as big a fan of The Gathering as some Testament fans (though it was my first album...i thought it was a Gathering album called Testament haha), for me this was an ENORMOUS step up from a rather eclectic era before this (The Ritual through to TG). 2

Segue Myles Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 Bruce Springsteen- The Rising Paradise Lost- Believe In Nothing (Remixed/Remastered) The Rising is a terrific Springsteen album, though I feel a tighter track list could have elevated this. As it stands, all good to great but feels a little long. BIN is an album many Paradise Lost fans hated, but I loved the original and love the remix even more. Glad to say the remix saw the album win over fans. Their record label should never have interfered with it in the first place!

They fit autumn/winter so well. Paradise Lost and Type O are probably gonna be my big bands in the next few months just for this reason! I hope you resume Paradise Lost one day. Like Testament, they have been pretty fires a HEAVY metal band since In Requiem in 2007. You could start there? That way you skip all the commercial years that I remember turned you off.
Segue Myles Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 Dream Theater- Black Clouds And Silver Linings Me and Mick have forever been at odds with this album. I don't think it's their best effort, but my GOD I am loving it today! It's working it's way back up the list for me. 1

I only know their reputation as something a lot my generation felt was embarrassing dad rock. Any good eras to explore? Well this one, I've got their Classic Albums collection of five albums. It features the 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1976 albums, it's probably their apex period. 1
treeduck Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 I think Quo were pretty good though right up to 1980. They had more four albums up to then after this collection, Rockin' All Over the World, If You Can't Stand the Heat, Whatever You Want and Just Supposin'. 1
treeduck Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 I've realised something too, the main vocalist, I think it's Francis Rossi, he's the nearest I've ever heard to sounding like Ozzy. If Ozzy had died in 1970 Rossi could have been the new Sabbath singer, albeit a toned-down boring version of Ozzy. 1
Segue Myles Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 Dream Theater- A Dramatic Turn Of Events An album I always forget about, but then I play it and LOVE it. I've not played DT in a while, forgot just how magnificent they are! 3
