Entre_Perpetuo Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 The Cure - Songs Of A Lost World I think if I had to choose a “weak” track here, it would be All I Ever Am, but it’s still great, just a bit more reserved in its greatness. 1

My favourite album this year and it's crazy how much I love it. 2

I have it at 7th on the year, but I need to revisit a few of the records immediately around it. And that’s 7th out of like 60 or so, so that’s a really high spot, lol.
TheAccountant Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Worked from home today so that gave me a chance to pull my vinyl out of the moving boxes. First out: Elton John - The Best of Elton John Volume 2 Not a big Elton John fan but he is ok if I am in the right mood. Next out of the box: Def Leppard - Adrenalize Good album cover. The album itself? Its harder (to my ears) then Hysteria - so thats a plus. I wish this was the album they put out after Pyromania. Hysteria was such a disappointment after Pyromania. I remember when it came out me and my buddies got it and cranked it up. You could feel the energy go out of the room - right from the first song and the hissing sound of the balloon defeating just continued throughout the album. In some ways the songs are better on Hysteria than the songs on this album but the album just does not have the raw energy to it that this album has and that the first 3 albums really had. I would say this album is consistently ok but nothing special and nothing I go out of my way to listen to. Next out of the box: Lita Ford - Lita Excellent album cover. The album has "Kiss Me Deadly" which I enjoy. The rest of the album is basically filler though (notwithstanding some occasional good guitar and drum work and some interesting vocal moments). Yes, it has "Close My Eyes Forever" which she did with Ozzy and which still gets airplay but I don't care for the song. Note - I saw her on this tour and it was a good show. I also saw her again around 2010 and she put on a good show. I always compare her to Joan Jet (same era, both part The Runaways before going out on their own and I have also see Joan twice) and I also enjoy Lita's music and live shows more. Next out of the box: Poison - Look What The Cat Dragged In I alway enjoy Poison live but its been many years since I have pulled this album out. You know what? It was much better than I remembered. Songs like the title track, "I Want Action", "I Wont Forget You", "Talk Dirty To Me" & "Want Some, Need Some" were all really enjoyable. The other songs were ok as well. Next out of the box: Jefferson Starship - Modern Times This has the very enjoyable "Find Your Way Back" but the rest of the album is filler. Last out of the box: Bob Seeger - Like A Rock The title track is very good. "American Storm" is ok. The rest of the album is filler (IMO). Typical for Seeger - the songs he did that I like I really like and the rest is just filler. Rarely do I get songs that are just ok or decent. Best (non greatest hits) album of the day? Look What The Cat Dragged In. 2
