Dream Theater Black clouds......

So i tried this again with my arch enemy now back in, lol

And it just reconfirmed why i never liked it.  Everything here is long because prog.  and not that i don't like bits and pieces i do.  but never full songs.

I like bits of Nightmare.  Bits of Rite of Passage.  Bits of Shattered Fortress.  bits of Count of Tuscany.

But not a thing   here ever comes together as a fully realized ssong......again just long because prog.

Rush- Clockwork Angels

Having discovered Rush in 2011, I am so grateful that I discovered them just in time to be hyped and enjoy an album cycle from these guys. I love this band a lot, and in 2012, I declared this album was my favourite of the year. Then I dipped with it and I struggled with the album, and now, twelve years later, it's come full circle and i am a huge fan of this album again.

Brilliant work.

I wonder if they would consider remastering it someday. I think if someone sat down and did that job right, a lot of fans who can’t get past the loudness would discover a new Rush classic.

Tbh I didn't really notice issues until I joined this group, and once I noticed it took away from my enjoyment.

Then I got over it again once the material won me back over. I think as a collection of songs it's fantastic. I love it, no skips

my problem is at the root.  i just don't like most of the songs.

in my eyes at least it would just be polishing a turd.

Opeth-Watershed

This album is great.  and actually in hindsight showed off the more pure prog direction that was coming.

It's what I think their next album is going to sound like.

Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks

Idk why, I just got a hankering for Anarchy In The UK, which is a good song. There are a couple other good songs here. Most of it though is just kinda lightly annoying, and hasn’t aged well at all. The guitar tone at least is still pretty righteous, but Johnny Rotten… eh. Gimme The Ramones and The Damned all day every day over this.

Oh I also played Achilles Last Stand like 6 times because I’m trying to learn it for my band. So many words!!!

Worked from home for part of the day (had to take dad for PT at the Veterans Administration's local facility) so it was back to the vinyl I have in the moving box's.  First out:

Eagles - Greatest Hits: Volume 1

Basically a greatest hits album for the Eagles for the 1971 - 1974 period.  Good  Next out of the box:

Eagles - Greatest Hits: Volume 2

A greatest hits album for the 1975 - 1979 period.  Volume 1 is way, way better.  Next out of the box:

The Who - Tommy

A classic.  Never skip a song when I listen to this album and I enjoy everything.  There are a few weaker songs but they just fit in so you can't skip them.  Next out of the box:

The Baby's - Union Jack's

This has "Back on My Feet Again" which is an excellent song.  Everything else is just filler however.  Last out of the box:

Twisted Sister - Come Out And Play

Never skip a song on this album and I like (really like) everything.  Their prior album was Stay Hungry which had 3 big hits ("Were Not Gonna Take It", "The Price" & "I Wanna Rock") and that album I also never skip a song on and really like every song on it but somehow I find this to be an even better album - even though this had no big hits.  Very enjoyable.

Traffic-The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys.

Very different format here. It's an Island Records cassette tape where both sides of the cassette and the insert card are marked "Each side contains complete album".  Anybody ever see that, or something similar before (Aside from the "B" side of the single "They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha Ha" being the same song in reverse)?

I’ve never actually seen one of those, but I know blank cassettes with 45 minutes on each side were common. My dad would play a record on his stereo, record it onto one side of the tape, and repeat the process with another album. You’d think if they’re selling an album on a cassette with that much space, they’d put another album on the B-side, and make it a good deal. Having the same album on both sides seems like a waste, unless you really wanna hear it twice
