Lucifer is your answer. God was so threatened by the angel Lucifer's defiance that he sent him to the underworld.

Segue Myles
Epica- Design Your Universe Epica are phenomenal. I love them more than Nightwish these days, they are by far the most accomplished metal band.
bluefox4000
Opeth. Heritage Pale Communion It's taken me ages. but being the classic prog head i am. This era is growing on me. Pale Communion is freakin' awesome and how i failed to recognize it makes me sad. I mean songs like Moon Above, Sun Below....River....Voice of Treason. They should have impacted me all along. Is it the best Opeth era? No. I still feel this era misses a little something but does it really matter if the music is still so f***ing good?

I'm curious where you'll land for In Cauda Venenum since that may be the most experimental of their prog period. I think I got into their prog period right from the start because I was deep in Steven Wilson's GfD and Raven albums when I discovered Opeth. I started with Damnation and Pale Communion before I ever entertained the growing music so it all clicked.

Mick I've gravitated back to their death metal stuff lately as the leaves are falling but I never forget what brought me to the dance. I'm really interested in their upcoming album because it looks like they're blending growls and prog this time. Only going much further than Watershed did.
Union 5-3992
Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere Has anyone heard this yet? It's like death metal mixed with Pink Floyd. I usually see an indecipherable band logo as a warning to stay away from an album, but I've really been digging this. The crazy album art doesn't hurt either
Union 5-3992
So far the Smile are 3/3 but this may be the weakest of them for me. Still a good record.
