But it is way down my list of fave grunge albums. I doubt it would be in my top fifty. That's because it's not a grunge album. It's a hard rock one.

I get this argument, it definitely feels much more indebted to like Aerosmith than any of the Seattle bands did. Still I think it’s a bit bloated. Scott’s the best thing going on here imo.

It's a silly made up label anyways since none of the bands labeled that sound alike at all.

And the NW look with all the flannel. Segue Myles
In Flames- Reroute To Remain One of the most divisive In Flames albums, the crazy thing is, it's influence is EVERYWHERE in the metal scene. I think this album really helped them stay relevant, enduring through the 2000s onwards as one of the best metal bands of the era. I remember seeing them cited as influences by everyone in the 2000s, and I'm so glad I took note as this band means absolutely everything to me. They didn't look like Poison, and with the exception of Cornell at times, didn't have high register vocalists. They didn't sing about partying and sex. At the time, I referred to them favorably as being distinct from "Bon Leppard Snake." TM By that point, faceless bands that Jackie loves had overwhelmed the industry. I remember buying Facelift, Nevermind, Ten, Core and Badmotorfinger within a couple of years and thinking of them as a type of music.

I wasn't even old enough to experience this, but whenever I revisit this era it excites me so much after knowing what the 80s had devolved into. Of course metal still had and has much to offer, but the major cultural and genre reset that came with the "Seattle sound" is for me the most exciting era of rock music history.

I get so much out of that time period. I might even go so far as to say it might be my favourite movement in rock history, it was just so brilliant! And it impacted everything in a way I'm not sure any other era of rock had before or since. Even metal and hip hop evolved with the impact of grunge, and the pop of the era followed the aesthetics too. Just...wish I could go back in time just to see my favourite bands play. It's odd for me to feel this way because I'm not someone who necessarily loves all things "grunge", but as an era...1989-1994, charting the couple of years before the mainstream chokehold to the end of the glory days, is just so cool to me.
