Alex’s Amazing Arpeggios
Van Halen - III. 1998 (7.5/10) haven’t played it for a few years and so thought I’d see if it had improved over time … it has a little but still probably my least Fav VH Album. On paper, it should have really worked .. but somehow fell short. Plus I’m not keen on the production. My Fav/ least disliked tracks : Without You From Afar Fire in the Hole Edited August 30 by Alex’s Amazing Arpeggios ‘ Spellchecker ‘ typo

But I enjoyed it all, I just felt that everything, including parts of Windows, lacked a sense of identity. The Wild Places could be from anyone. I'd say Windows and Walls is the best of the later period. I enjoy it more than Innocent Age, which unfortunately loses me with every spin. A bit too dour. Not sure what my favourite album is. The first three are up there but Phoenix and Windows And Walls are pristine, with minor shortfalls (you're right, Longer is way too saccharine). I enjoyed High Country Snows but bluegrass is an alien genre for me so it had the novelty of sounding "fresh". Being American, I'm sure you're familiarity of the genre in the media makes your reaction very different. Edited August 31 by Segue Myles

Segue Myles
Within Temptation- Resist This is a bloody brilliant album. Not spun it in a while, its honestly really perfect to me. Gosh, I wish more symphonic metal bands would evolve their sound with as much risk as this lot! I'm tiring of the endless Wishmaster ripoffs. If the genre is to last, its gonna need to carry on trying new things. Maybe there is hope for the new WT album and me! 2018 feels like decades ago at this point. Forgot how much I love this album.
