also maybe the kinks don't stink i just don't feel much for them. and that makes for a worse expierance than finding them bad IMO.

if the Cat were here he'd agree.  Not sure many others here know Dan or care, lol

Mick

Aww, I love them both! Apples and oranges or whatever. You know I love me some Dan, though.

Jethro Tull -- The Zealot Gene

I gave that a first listen on my recent road trip.  I made it through four or five songs, and my reaction was neutral.  It's not bad, but given the vast Tull discography of truly great music, it just seemed unnecessary

that was WAAAY too muc, lol

I was being hyperbolic as a reaction to the anti-Kinks crap.

However, I really do think You Really Got Me is better than any song Beatles wrote prior to Rubber Soul.

I am trying to learn more about Dan Fogelberg.

Why is there so little about him?

we were discussig this.  I think a couple thins

1  could be he was a private guy.

2. and most likly.  He had a sizable presence in the US in the 70's.  multiple hits.  Innocent age was a BIG seller in 81.  but you know how fickle the general music fan is (not talking us nerds who will cling to an artist like herpes, lol) they said enough of Dan and he QUICKLY faded after IA.

Windows and walls was minor here and that was it for him.  he was erased like pat benatar.

True, but I can't believe there is not even a proper fansite. I did notice he gets mentioned by name in Grace And Frankie!

Pat Benatar was erased? I think her old hits still get played on classic rock stations. I've never heard of Dan Fogelberg.

Give One For the Road a spin.  It's a good live sampler of (IMO) their strongest material.  It seems to translate better live.

The Kinks - Lola Vs Powerman And The Moneygoround Pt. 1 (or whatever it’s called, I’m not looking right now)

I dunno man, this is pretty great. I think comparing them to The Beatles implies a certain thing but really where they sit is squarely between The Beatles and The Stones with a dash of The Who’s proto punk attitude.

Indeed.  If we're considering it to be a rocker, it's not better than I Saw Her Standing There, which is track 1, side 1 on Please Please Me.

I'm done defending Kinks. You're right though, and the music stands tall on its own.

Plus it's useless comparing these bands. They are all outstanding.
