Symphony X- Symphony X

This was a bold and ambitious debut! Not altogether brilliant, but I liked it today better than I remembered.

Symphony X- The Damnation Game

Very similar to the debut, but more accomplished. Again, not mind-blowingly brilliant, but I enjoyed it.

Symphony X- The Divine Wings Of Tragedy

Still a flawless album. Probably the SX album I am most familiar with (it's between this and Paradise Lost).

I remember my mother telling me a while ago that she always thought I Live For The Weekend was a Boston song. I can definitely see the similarity in Moore and Delps voices

Symphony X- Twilight In Olympus

I've never enjoyed this band so much before! Prog and power metal excellence, I really loved this album. Has an early Rhapsody meets Dream Theater feel.

Killing Joke- Night Time

Now I hadn't thought about KJ in a very long time. This is a haunting album, but also incredibly catchy. Didn't see it coming, but I might just be on the verge of a KJ marathon!

Dreamtale - World Changed Forever

This album was sort of ok.  I guess.  Nothing I am going to listen to again.  Will try one more album from this group and see what I get.  If its a dog then I will just assume that they had the one decent album (Everlasting Flame) and otherwise are not much.  Then will try something else.

Dreamtale - Beyond Realty

Well, I am glad I gave this one a shot.  Sort of standard hard rock / power metal but decent.  Nothing I am really going wild for, but decent.  Will give another album from this group a try.

Since you're on a power metal binge right now, have you ever listened to Sabaton? They're pretty much the kings of the genre currently.

Review] Ghost Of The Machine - Scissorgames

Scissorgames by Ghost Of The Machine. Pretty decent prog rock debut album by UK band formed last year.

Mariah Carey- Butterfly

I know everyone here is into prog, rock, metal etc, but the complexity of the vocals, melodic lines, harmonies, blend of singer songwriter/rnb/hip hop as well as truly subtle, soft and lush songwriting choices makes this a truly beautiful listening experience. People talk about her high notes and belting, but much of this record is in her lower register, which is I think even more impressive.

The Roof is one of the most atmospheric and sensual songs I have ever heard. My All is possibly my favourite ballad of all time, and for a genre that is not always taken seriously, this whole album is a layered work of art.
