Hallo Net Boys and Net Girls!

I was listening to a solo album by Brian Setzer of the Stray Cats and got to

thinking of how many great solo albums have been released over the years.

So, what are some of your favourite solo albums?

Here are ten of my favs...

Little Steven and The Disciples of Soul (The E Street Band) - Men Without Women (1982)

The Joe Perry Project (Aerosmith) - I've Got the Rock and Rolls Again (1981)

Joey Ramone (Ramones) - Don't Worry About Me (2002)

Though he was a complete tool during his solo run,  Don Henley was a master songwriter/collaborator.  End of the Innocence is outstanding beginning to end

If I'm sticking to pure solo albums, and not eponymous bands, and also limiting myself to one album from each artist:

Mick Jagger - Wandering Spirit

Paul McCartney - Tug of War

Peter Gabriel - So (which is weird, because I hate Gabriel-Genesis)

Sting - Dream of the Blue Turtles

John Lennon - Imagine

Ringo Starr - Ringo

Sammy Hagar - Standing Hampton

Ozzy Osbourne - Diary of a Madman (on the theory that there was supposed to be a band called Blizzard of Ozz)

Slash - Slash

WOWEEE that Meisner is a deep DEEP pick.  i love that one too.

Not gonna lie.  every body says Henley and/or Frey or Walsh... but Meisner was my fav always.  and if you ask me.....the Eagles REAL secret sauce.

Ben Folds - Rockin the Suburbs

Phil Collins - Face Value

Chris Cornell - Euphoria Morning

Eddie Vedder - Into the Wild

Peter Gabriel - Security

TP - Full Moon Fever and Wildflowers

Morrissey - Your Arsenal (What Goose said about Henley, same goes for this wanker.)

The Love Below by Andre 3000 - One half of the two albums although Speakerboxxx is good.  TLB is the best Prince album not by Prince.

George Harrison - All Things Must Pass

Peter Gabriel - So

  This one gives my Robert Plant #1 pick a run for its money for my top solo spot of all time.

:notworthy:  Just a phenomenal effort.  Great call!

Sting - Dream of the Blue Turtles

:fistbump:  Another wanker that just puts out great solo album after great solo album.  This debut, the follow-up Nothing Like the Sun, Mercury Falling and Brand New Day all get regular play from me to this day.  I especially like those last two late career efforts.

I guess that rounds out my top ten!

Paul Simon was always (mostly) a solo artist, so I didn't count him in the mix.

Mark Knopfler's Sailing to Philadelphia is worth mentioning as a solid solo project

It would probably just be a bunch of David Bowie albums with a side of Peter Gabriel and Chris Squire.  Unless Bowie doesn't count?

From me, I would try a top ten list of solo c.ds, and albums from artists, who have released them, and artists, who were in bands, and groups, but were taking time away from them, and weren't in them anymore I enjoy, and like a lot.  In no particular order, they are.

Ace Frehley - Ace Frehley

Steve Perry - For the Love of Strange Medicine

Lou Gramm - Long Hard Look

Phil Collins - No Jacket Required

Peter Gabriel - So

Robert Plant - Now and Zen, Manic Nirvana

Don Henley - the End of the Innocence

Sammy Hagar - I Never Said Goodbye

David Lee Roth - Skyscraper

Honorable mentions: Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Madonna, have been four of my favorite artists, and for Canadian artists, Kim Mitchell, and Lee Aaron, but I wasn't able to decide, which studio c.ds, and albums to include of theirs because I like all of their studio releases, and they've remained solo a lot.  Two other artists I wasn't able to decide on studio releases because of having great ones are Stevie Nicks, and Sting like some of the ones I've listed.
