Odd that so many are voting off American Soldier before the horrendous Q2K and the embarrassment that was Mindcrime 2. American Soldier was actually OK. And of course the newest albums are getting voted off first because according to this forum it's impossible for a classic band to ever record a new album that can be good in any way.

Nope , sorry… I’m not over keen.

My Favourite Era for Hard Rock/Metal in general is ‘78 to ‘92.

I do like some earlier pre ‘78 stuff like Zep, Hendrix , Purple , Free etc… and more recent stuff by groups such as Dream Theater , Muse , Haken.

 

I suppose I’m a bit stuck in my ways as I like my Hard Rock to feature long(ish) melodic guitar ( and preferably keyboard too ) solos , so after Grunge became big in the early 90s , I wasn’t keen on the new direction that the likes of Queensrŷche took. 

Having said that I’m going to give it another spin & see if it’s improved to my ears with the passage of time.

  🤔 Yep Whilst I’m guilty of voting for American Soldier , Despite far from being the classic line up , I actually quite like their latest release The Verdict 👍

 I agree with you that a lot of the time many later albums get eliminated without even being listened to 

  On some of the Album Eliminations I’ve been voting for later releases over earlier ones !

 For example I prefer Heart’s ‘85-‘93 period over their 70s releases.

 I think the final Rush ‘ Clockwork Angels ‘ is easily within their Top 10 and also reckon Aerosmith’s & Van Halen’s 2nd half of their careers are on a par with their first few albums.

It’s been such a long time since I played it that perhaps I can’t recall the exact reason why I didn’t like it so much compared to the previous 4 albums when I bought the CD back in ‘94.

Both yourself & J2112YYZ have convinced me to revisit it over the weekend

The grunge influence is certainly there though. The album does have a darker AIC/Soundgarden vibe to it. It's not a grunge album but there's no way they weren't influenced by the current music scene when they wrote it.

The last two records with Todd Latorre are awesome.....disgusting they are being voting down already.....like it seems no one even really listened to them proper. 

 

I mean Dedicated to Chaos and QR2K are total garbage........no redeeming qualities what so

ever. 

 

This poll has already been trolled.

 

I am a lifelong QR fan.....hardcore. They have some real stinkers....the last two with Todd on the vox are some of their best albums front to back.
