Principled Man Posted March 29, 2022 Author Posted March 29, 2022 Official change to OT rules, playoffs only...each team guaranteed a possession. Vote was 29-3 A direct result of the hugely emotional, hyped to the max Chiefs-Bills game. It was the Game of The Year for many, and deservedly so. Excitement to the Nth degree! And no one is citing what happened the very next week, when the Chiefs had the ball first in OT against the Bengals....and LOST. The Bengals' defense took the ball away from Mahomes and his hyped-up offense, and the Bengals went to the Super Bowl. The OT rule changes are a solution looking for a problem when there is no problem.

The playoff stats are just part of the picture. They are the basis for a change to playoff OT rules. What's the rest of the picture? Our ever-increasing quest for "fairness," and the idea that something we don't like needs a new law or rule. Bottom line is that, under the most recent, "old rule," if the team that lost the coin toss kept the team that won the coin toss out of the end zone on their first possession, they got the ball in OT. That's as fair as you deserve IMO. If, with your season on the line, you let a team march down the field and score a touchdown, you deserve to start booking tee times.

The playoffs are different, however, in that a team is likely facing a high-powered offense. Playoff OT stats (as labt noted months ago) show that tired defenses have slim odds in keeping an NFL playoff offense out of the end zone. Someone asked about the Chiefs last year. They lost the game at the end of the second half, lol.

Yeah, I'm not expecting him to be 100% at his peak at this point, we just need him to be an integral piece of a very fluid backfield, where everyone can play several positions. He doesn't have to make all the plays he just needs to do his part.
goose Posted May 13, 2022 Posted May 13, 2022 Looks like the Chiefs have the toughest schedule this year. We get six games in the league's toughest division, and our outside games include the Bengals, 49ers, Cardinals, Bills, Titans, Colts, Rams and Buccaneers. It's been a good run for KC, but it may come to an end this year. Once again the Cowboys appear to have another cake walk to the playoffs. lol
