Some songs are way overplayed some songs are too long and some are both. "Carry On My Wayward Son" does it for me. If you'd have put "Sweet Home Alabama" instead of "Free Bird", that would have gotten my vote and I think it's more of their signature song anyway.

2. Carry On My Wayward Son

Carry On My Wayward Son

Kansas for me

"Carry On My Wayward Son" does it for me.

I technically should have picked that one as it's my favorite on this list. But I kept thinking about what must have went into making Bohemian so I had to give it props.

Oasis' Wonderwall captures an era. Nirvana's Teen Spirit, too.

Others?

Macarena, though not in a good way.

Another perfect song.

Great choice...I'm sorry I didn't think to add that one.

I think it can be fairly argued that Cheap Trick's "signature," song is I Want You to Want Me and Billy Idol's is White Wedding, but the choices posted are equally arguable.

Which song would be the Stones? Satisfaction, Jumping Jack Flash?

As TC3 pointed out, I think the Stones are one of the few bands where you couldn't really say. Those 2 are definitely up there. Start Me Up? Sympathy for the Devil? Street Fighting Man? Brown Sugar?

Like I've said before, if someone thinks the Stones aren't an all-time great band, take a look at how many songs between 1964 and 1981 they "had," to play live before dipping into (semi)deep tracks or a song from a new album.

That's how I think of it too. I Want You To Want Me and White Wedding are definitely how I was first introduced to either artist.

Yeah, it was a hard list to compile as so many bands have more than one "signature" songs...

...that's how The Stones, Rush, The Beatles, etc. got left off the list.
