Principled Man
Does this create an implicit argument against the "unfairness" of a system that doesn't assure both teams have possession? In my opinion, it ferociously chases the "unfairness" argument right off the field. :) NFL teams are supposed to be the best of the best. The defense has every opportunity to force a punt or turnover, and that is exactly what happened in 17 of 22 games.

Principled Man
Clarification: I should have stated that 5 of 22 overtime games were won by the team that won the coin toss and then scored a TD on their 1st possession. lerxt1990
What are the alternative ideas? The Ravens idea? Regardless of scoring FG or TD the other team gets a shot to o down field? What?

Believing the playoff rules should be the same as the regular season rules, I think the principles and not the outcomes should dictate what happens.

KenJennings
Do away with overtime. Just keep playing the fourth quarter with negative time on the clock until someone takes the lead. Edited January 29, 2022 by KenJennings
edhunter
You had 60 minutes to win the game in regulation. To say you didn't get a chance in overtime is silly.
