Brewers @ Pirates

While on the on deck circle, Kolten Wong is having an ongoing chat with three teenage dudes in the front row, right by the Brewers’ dugout.  The one dude with a HUGE mop of curly hair promises to shave his head if Wong hits a homer.

So Wong hits a homer, of course!  As he starts jogging to 1st base, he turns and points right at the dude.

Oh, where is Driventotheedge now!?! The Mariners are taking the lumber to Gerrit Cole in Yankee Stadium! It's glorious!

Not his fault though.   The right fielder got out to his position a little late and his timing was completely disrupted.  Can he really be expected to be at his best under those conditions?

The Great Hader Trade sure has paid off for the Brewers!

They’ve blown two THREE straight games to the PIRATES.
Shitty bullpen performances…..imagine that.

Just when you think they haven't found new embarrassing ways to lose, they do it again.  7 solo home runs and they lose against a team with a worse freaking record in the division losing 2 of 3...AT HOME.  I never hated an Angels team this much.  The 2003 Tigers in their "prime" could beat these bums.

Just one more week until Rams preseason...just one more week...just one more week... :banghead:

Reds @ Brewers:

Reds hitter pops it up, very high, right over the pitcher’s mound.  Pitcher Aaron Ashby defers to the infielders, who can’t make a decision.  1st baseman Hiura comes running over late, but Ashby catches the ball himself while standing right on the rubber.

Let the pitcher catch the ball, damnit!  When the ball is popped right at him, let him catch the ball!

It seems the pitchers often prefer to defer in such instances, but a diffusion/confusion of responsibility arose there.  Luckily for the Brew Crew, Ashby was able to hold on even while his hilltop position was subject to frontal assault.  Meanwhile, the 3-way battle for last place in the NL Central continues apace.

The pitchers are usually told to defer.  It’s a long standing strategy, as pitchers are not the most practiced at fielding.  Keston Hiura is very inexperienced at 1st base, so he messed up.

Some veteran pitchers, like Clayton Kershaw, never defer.  Kershaw gets quite irate if you try to wave him off!

At least your team didn't have a 14 game skid and get swept by freaking Baltimore and lose against the A's with 7 home runs hit....as well as a soon to be 7 season losing streak.  They even lost 1-0 against Boston at home in a 4 game series during that skid...TWICE.

Jason Hey ward has played his last game as a Cub.  8.8 wins for $184 million, killing cap flexibility, and popping up ton3rd more than seemingly humanly possible.

Too bad, he's a great guy in the clubhouse and the community, but it was well past time to cut ties.

This seems doubly appropriate, as the Cubbies and Reds are playing in Dyersville, Iowa this evening, with a big, beautiful full moon rising.

(Ha!  Just as I was writing this, they played this during the game's TV coverage when going into a commercial.)
