That is an excellent use of that GIF! I don't think it can be discounted how completely revolutionary Eruption was for 1978. Sure, some guitarists prior had experimented with tapping, but not to the extreme Eddie was taking it, not to mention how perfectly well crafted the instrumental as a whole is to blow your mind more and more with each passing second. Instrumentals also don't usually get radio play, but I've rarely heard You Really Got Me without Eruption right in front of it. As far as I can tell, no one slice of music has ever shocked the rock world so completely, head to toe. You might argue Smells Like Teen Spirit did it years later, but Nirvana wasn't surprising to anyone already in on the Seattle scene or familiar with the Pixies and Sonic Youth. Eruption had no such precedent.
