Segue Myles
Iron Maiden- Powerslave (10/10) This album seems to finally have fully clicked! Just when I think I couldn't love Maiden anymore, it just so happens I do!

Segue Myles
Dream Theater- A View From The Top Of The World (8/10) There is nothing going on here that is "new". In fact, the entire time this album plays I find myself mentally checking off all the things it reminds me of. So why a high score? Like Distance Over Time, this is the sound of a mature, experienced band who know what they are best at, love what they are best at, and strive to continue doing what they are best at. And whilst Distance Over Time had a sense of reigning it in and being straight to the point, something it excelled at, View is DT back to being spontaneous and progressive. None of these songs sound tired, uninspired or bloated, which is saying something as every song is long. I am not saying this is the greatest album Dream Theater have made, but oddly, I can see myself suggesting this album to new listeners, as it contains elements of everything fans know and love them for. Exquisite.

Segue Myles
Avenged Sevenfold- Hail To The King (8/10) Deserves a 1/10 for being so generic. But it's so much fun

J2112YYZ
Iron Maiden: No Prayer For The DyingFear Of The Dark Yikes! I forgot how truly awful The Apparition, Judas My Guide and Weekend Warrior are. How were they not embarrassed to release those? The very definition of "ah, I got nothing here".

FOTD to VIX really is the worst era of Maiden. Good stuff on them all, but they swap around as my least favourite IM albums. However I love No Prayer so much, I can't really explain why. Go figure. Most of it is good but you can tell the band was running out of steam on some of those songs. They had been going hard for a decade at that point, so it's understandable.
