Not terrible by any means, but it doesn't fully make up for what it lacks with its CD era bloat. 1

Yeah Fade In-Out and like Man Its Getting Better couldve been shorter but It's good good music and I honestly really don't care about length that much on this album.

Segue Myles Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Saxon- Crusader I still don't know why I love this band. I just do. 1
Segue Myles Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Megadeth- Peace Sells... but Who's Buying? MASTERPIECE I always forget how f***ing awesome this band is. The best of the Big Four 4
Segue Myles Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Rush- Clockwork Angels Something I really want to say about this album, I have always felt it carries through musically in a way that feels like an ongoing stream of consciousness. It's a beautiful album that the more time passes, the more I appreciate it. It doesn't feel like a collection of songs, more like on long piece of music. It's grandiose and cinematic, and at times I can forget what I'm listening to and think it's a movie if I shut my eyes. A stunning album, ten years on, I think I love it more than ever. 7
bluefox4000 Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 (edited) Machine Head-Catharsis (7/10) OK.........soooooo.....Segue was talking Guilty pleasure albums by MH......this is fukking mine. I understand this band was kinda dying during this but i think is great in it's own way. i'll get the negatives done first. YES i get it. Robb again goes dumb with the goofystuff. California Bleeding Triple Beam Kaleidoscope Razorblade Smile Pshychotic Volatile (though i like it) HOWEVER we have Catharsis (LOVE) Beyond the pale Bastards (this is fun and OTT sentimental i love it screw you) Hope Begats hope Behind A Mask Heavy lies The Crown (fantastic song!!!!) Eulogy (The reprise of a more somber Bastards was so smart here) if you think an album with THESE songs is totally terrible........your lowkey should be committed, lol I stand with Catharsis. the little Bastard of the canon indeed. Segue Myles Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 (edited) Mastodon- Hushed And Grim This is easily the greatest metal album of 2021. Edited September 12, 2022 by Segue Myles 3
bluefox4000 Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Machine Head-Of Kingdom and Crown (8/10) On my 4th play. And after the uneven plain wackiness of Catharsis this a return to harder MH. though the production is a bit clynical and oddly polished (a fact i picked up on this listen.) it is a concept album just basically about a dude who loses his girlfriend and just murders everyone (MH writing about war.........NOOOOOOOO, lol) Some really great classic MH goodness in here. Slaughter The Martyr (though a tad long) Become The Firestorm (love this very crushing. very Speed Metal!!) My Hands are empty Unhallowed (maybe my fav) No Gods no Masters (Catchy great song. though a little to Imagine dragons-y on the hook.......WHOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! that millennial whoop-age, lol Bloodshot Arrows in the Heart From the Sky (beautiful closer) i think i like a few albums over this but great return to Classic period MG. Segue Myles Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Rush- Moving Pictures Played this twice in a row. I used to rate albums out of 10 all the time. In the end I stopped, realising I'm just a bit too passionate about music I love and just gave too many perfect scores out. The reason I saw a flaw in that system? Because albums like this really, truly are beyond perfection, and are infinitely far greater than many of my personal favourites. It seems cliche to call this the greatest Rush album. But it was my first, and I think it's still my favourite. It's also my most played alongside Roll The Bones 😂 6
