Blind Guardian- A Night At The Opera

This album took the longest to grow on me. It's so OTT and it is a lot all the time. Once it sinks it's hooks in you, it becomes an obsession. Fast becoming my favourite metal album these days.

If only the Guardian could see, how much better would he be??

Zola Jesus - Versions

I`ve always been vulnerable to dramatic female vocals. This record consists of powerful string arrangements/rerecordings. Her music with guitar and percussion accompaniments is pretty striking too. Not really summer BBQ music but then I`m not a summer BBQ kinda guy.

Saxon- Innocence Is No Excuse

The album title is pure cringe, and the cover art is even worse. But wow, I really enjoyed this album! Very late eighties, in the best way. It reminded me of Dokken a lot. It's very polished, very commercial sounding, and I'm sorta shocked how much I enjoyed this.

Am I the only one unable to see Segue's avatar?

I can see it. Looks like an album cover from Rhapsody Of Fire.

Not showing up on my laptop. Hm. I think I saw it on my phone though.,

Blind Guardian Twilight Orchestra- Legacy Of The Dark Lands

This album was thirty years in the making, and it's completely orchestral, no metal at all. It's a huge operatic concept album, and erm...it's a mixed bag. They even adopted a different name so that it would be treated as its own thing.

I really enjoy it as background music, but not one song could not have benefited from a more metallic approach.

Good, close to great.

Lacuna Coil- Live From The Apocalypse

This live album is superior to Black Anima. You have the entire album performed live with all the bonus tracks.

Journey-Freedom.

i wasn't excited with this based on the singles and they proved me.................RIGHT:laugh:

What a souless money grabbing shit record.  the songs are  i can't say bad but this is a band sleep walking.  lazy harmonies, cut and paste hooks.

and the production is really muddy and bad.

honestly i went into this with low expectations.  i wanted to be pleasently surprised but god damn it this is just vapid.

Mick

Oh dear … I hope It grows on you a little bit Mick 🤞

🤔After just a few listens so far,  I certainly think it’s not their worst album ever 🙂
