Rush- Clockwork Angels

My life has changed so much since I first bought this over a decade ago. Hard to comprehend really, but there we go.

Me and this album have been on a wild journey, and I love it more than ever!

Two albums from Welsh psychedelic/jam band Man from way back in the early '70s.

They had a bit of a following in the UK at the time, and remind me of my 'young whippersnapper' days!!

Lorna Shore- Immortal

This is heavier than Lamb Of God, with an ambitious symphonic streak. Intense, truly heavy and shockingly visceral, this is exceptional. I have seen there name floating around for years now, but I assumed they were another cookie cutter metal band with pop punk vocals.

No, this is gutteral and feels so, so fresh. I was talking about how Lamb Of God's Sacrament blew me away in my teens. I am in my thirties now and this just ripped me a new one.

Oh god I love this.

Larks' Tongues In Aspic (Part I) - song and lyrics by King Crimson | Spotify

I'm not one who normally prefers instrumentals over regular songs but holy christ

I had this album on 8track tape.  It was a frequent play on trips to and from college.

There are cookie cutter metal bands with pop punk vocals? I'm afraid I've never heard any of that before. Still it probably sounds better than the pig being slaughtered style vocals Lorna Shore has 😄

I'm shocked how much I enjoy them, but I will confess I would rather listen to twenty minutes of this than an entire album

By the end I was sick of it. But my god when it hits, it hits hard!

I actually really enjoyed the vocals, especially the lower grunts. But they need to work on variety. The new singles are really good as well.

Not replacing my favourite metal bands in rotation ATM, but I can see myself really getting into them.

Not for you?
