He doesn't have the greatest range but he has an aggressive, raw and very emotional voice. He was also asked by Metallica to be their vocalist back when they first started since none of them wanted to do it. He already had Armored Saint in the works so he turned them down. Honestly, Metallica would have been just fine with him as the singer. I'm not sure if they would have become the biggest metal band of all time with him. The songwriting dynamic would have been different plus he is a much different lyricist than Hetfield is. I would check out Symbol Of Salvation from Armored Saint. Nothing comes close for me this year!
