Maverick
Nice job here! Not that I'm an expert in such things, but I was getting a late 90's alt-rock vibe from these songs. Post Grunge type stuff. I'm assuming you played guitar, and I thought they sounded great, playing was solid. I enjoyed the solos. Thanks for sharing with us.

Laurabw
And even if I didn’t think it reminded me of them, it still sounded really cool.
stoopid
Haven't the time to listen to them all, so... "Breathe" is retro in a good way, nice use of hard panning which I rarely do anymore but it's a reminder that it can be done to good effect. The electric guitar had a low-fi fuzz element to it I didn't particularly care for when it was alone, but after all the instruments joined it it fit well. I like the casual and capable vocals. "The Haze" the guitars seem fairly distant/buried in the mix, the vocals really front and center (and put some mild chorus/stereo panning on them, son!). I hear the post-grunge Maverick hears, could also be a product of the old school sound/production. Another good song, fun lead at the end too. blueschica
I enjoyed listening to all of it today! I liked the vocals and really loved your guitar work. Breathe and Heaven Knows were 10/10 for me, I think because they were a little more melodic than the others and that's more my wheelhouse. Breathe, especially, was really enjoyable. It's your hit single! The Haze, So Weird, and The World's A Cage- 9/10- I enjoyed them, but I wasn't quite as bowled over as with the other two. Solid songwriting, though, and fun to listen to. I Don't Know Why and Online- 8/10 Well written also, but I didn't relate to them as much for some reason. Maybe because they were a little more grungy in feel? Thank you for posting the link! It was a great listening experience today! Edited August 15, 2021 by blueschica
condemned2bfree
Song wise its surprising and natural - the style. I like this approach personally. Sounds like a very natural combo you have there. The singer sounds natural too, his delivery. Don't Know Why is great. Why cut the solo off? ; ). Heaven Knows good too. The Haze sounds so familiar - Smiths Shed 7? superb. Great songs. Production is good too. Only thing for me there is the drums. Bit too compressed (snare sound) with little room OH. Be good if they were in keeping with the natural songwriting, expression. A hit be bound : ) nice one.

I'm on Breathe right now, and I agree with your comments about the guitar sound. The intro was very in-your-face and buzzsaw-ish, which can be a cool sound, but in this case it sounded like it was overmodulated. I thought it could have been dialed back a bit. But like you said, one the band kicked in and the guitar was indeed dialed back, it sounded great. The vocals were well done and the guitar solo was well-written and well played, and the tone was solid. The drum groove was good -- when it kicked in the song really took off. "The Haze" the guitars seem fairly distant/buried in the mix, the vocals really front and center (and put some mild chorus/stereo panning on them, son!). I hear the post-grunge Maverick hears, could also be a product of the old school sound/production. Another good song, fun lead at the end too. Agree with this too, though I'm thinking the guitar levels during the verses and choruses might be okay if the vocal levels were dropped and panned out a bit. I do think the guitar solo could have been brought up a bit more. Playing- and song-wise, another good tune. Really liking the solos so far. Will listen to more later.
1-0-0-1-0-0-1
"So Weird" Production-wise, the best sounding song so far. The vocals may be a little too loud in the first half, but seem good after the solo. This song has a slight Foo Fighters vibe. Probably not intentional, but I like it. Really like the key changes in the middle. Fridge, so far this is the best your guitar has sounded after all these years. JARG
Here are my thoughts as each song plays: Breathe - very retro sounding indeed (1960s). The rhythm guitar playing in the intro teeters on the edge between competent and amateurish, but in a good way. Vocals are great; love how they're drowning in reverb, especially given the title of the song. The kit crashes are brittle, a little EQ to warm them would help. The Haze - hey, I can hear the bass! Good mix. Good vocal melody in the chorus. So Weird - more retro goodness. I'm really liking the singer's voice. The mix is solid here. The key change is jolting, but cool. I Don't Know Why - great drum intro...very dry snare. Interesting sounding clean guitar in the background during the verses (at least that's what I think it is)...has a bell like quality to it. The outro solo has moments of pure fire! Heaven Knows - really nice guitar tone in the intro. Sounds very compressed and midrangey. Loving the chord progression during the verses (major 7th chord at the start of each verse?). Good bass presence. Weird-ass guitar solo. I can't tell if it works or not! The World's A Cage - nice tone on the intro lead. The song has an 80s feel to it. Another weirdish guitar solo at the end, but I'm more convinced this one works! :) Online - cymbals need to be warmed up a bit (maybe its just ears, but all I hear is high-frequency noise). I love the in-your-face feel of this songs relative to the others. Love the interplay between the two guitars (1:42 - 1:55). The double time sections are fun, but I don't think they really add to the song.
toymaker
Yeah, the second half of the solo in Breathe - crank it up! It's a good tune - catchy in a way I can't achieve myself! The Haze is another cool song. I like the mix, and it's very mature songwriting. Will listen more closely to the others soon Edited August 17, 2021 by toymaker
