Very sad news, indeed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and fans.

A wonderful singer, musician and performer.

Thank you for sharing your gift of music with the world.

Rest in peace, Mr. Steinhardt.

Apparently he was in the middle of making his own solo album... got a bunch of great musicians for it. Hope we get to hear the demos sometime if there are even any recorded

Very sad to hear this last night.

RIP Robby - you made the Kansas sound a unique one.

Entre_Perpetuo - my favourite Robby moment [well, currently anyhow!] is 'Lightning's Hand' from the POKR album, he's all over that tune vocally and violin-ally.

That's not to diminish any of his other excellent work tho'.

That's a good Robby tune, which is saying a lot when you consider it's really a dual-guitar showcase.

Ive always been a bigger fan of David Ragsdale, but Robby Steinhardt was the one who wrote those amazing violin parts and made it all possible. He gave Kansas an identity, something that makes them known....the rock band with a violin. Nowadays you'll have a huge number of prog metal and power metal bands that feature an electric violinist, but the band that really started that trend and made the violin cool was Kansas....And that's all thanks to Robby...Rest in peace <3

Probably really killed by excess facial hair.....

F**in' hilarious.

You make a similarly glib remark when Neil died?

Um, not sure about "...the band that really started that trend..." [perhaps you mean just in US?]

Don't forget Mahavishnu, Jean Luc Ponty [before/with/after Zappa] - here in Ireland we had Horslips with Charles O'Connor on violin/fiddle from '71/'72 onwards.

So - granted it's not common, but it's not unusual either!

But I get what you're saying - Robby was a groundbreaker.

And without Robby, Rags may not be where he is today since he was inspired by people such as Steinhardt to continue playing violin after his mother made him start playing it.

"When I was a kid, the last thing in the world I wanted to be was a violin player. That was my mom’s desire. Mine was to be a guitarist.

By the time I was 16, I was developing competence on the guitar, and the violin had become a bit of an afterthought, until one day, I was in my car with the radio on and for the first time I heard Kansas. I’m almost positive the song was “Can I Tell You.” That was the first time I remember thinking, “Hey, maybe this violin thing isn’t such a bad idea after all.” -Ragsdale in 2014

A tiresome yet accurately predictable response.

Don't give up the day job - comedy's definitely not your forté

Tbh, it's got nothing to do with 'humour' [however you measure that ethereal thing]

It's all to do with Respect.

Google it, you'd never know, you might be enlightened.

Pssst, Mr. Steinhardt is dead and has no knowledge of what's being posted here and it's likely nor do any of his relatives.

Is it because Fridge is Scottish?

He made a joke -- it wasn't an awesome joke, but it was harmless, so no need to go overboard like he had said something truly disrespectful.

With "respect" (and I use that term advisedly), my comment was more about your lack of said humour rather than attempting a joke myself.

I am under no obligation to view the death of someone I hadn't even heard of before this with an attitude that you approve of, so take your po-faced pompousness and shove it where the sun doesn't shine, ok?

Have a great day :-)
