JohnRogers
I see DISCO season 5 is a massive hit. Look at everyone talking about it. I'm not watching it, not worth my time when I have Foundation, Constellation, For All Mankind, Beacon 23, and HALO to keep me busy until good Star Trek returns late this year. It's not great Star Trek, but at least they seem to have gotten the memo that the Star Trek canon is a huge asset, and that they don't need to buck against it constantly. The Chase is one of my favorite episodes of Star Trek ever, and their decision to do a season following up on it was wise. The overarching story is actually an exciting prospect, but I still don't like this ship, this crew, or these writers. We'll see if they can stick the landing on something positive.

grep
That last episode with the timey wimey stuff was actually really good Trek, IMHO. PS: Reno knew.
Mosher
Haven't started the final season yet, but I'm one of the ones who actually have liked every season of DISCO. There are big flaws, of course. But I believe it's leaving much better than it began. I expect to really enjoy the final season.
grep
DISCO sucks. But season 5 of DIS is reasonably decent. Mirror mirror on the wall, half a century later tell of the Empire's fall. Sato's story needs to be told, and Kirk was a jerk. But Spock made a difference and somehow the ISG 1701 made it across about 8 years before TNG's prime timeline. Whoa, don't blaspheme in my presence. 2. I did something about halfway through season 4 of DISCO that I have never done. I decided a Star Trek series was no longer worth my time. Are you saying I should really give season 5 a watch? Edited April 27 by JohnRogers I forgot a word, you got a problem with that???

I meant Mirror Kirk was a jerk. But that was also a refence to a TOS episode too.... "The Way To Eden" or something. Season 5 is still kind of what DISCO is.... all the touchy feely moments. But..there is more 'real trek' content....and so far, a couple of nice nuggets and historic references. Those nuggets are the only reason i keep watching.
KenJennings
If they can stick the landing on the final two episodes, I will say that this has been the first actual good season of Discovery. Not great, mind you, but certainly enjoyable. If they can stick the landing.

KenJennings
Kind of Underwhelming. They didn't ruin everything with some colossal display of ridiculousness (e.g The Burn); but it was very much the opposite. They didn't take risks, they just ran out the clock. This season's MacGuffin was built up too high, and the delivery at the end left me wanting. The conclusion of the character arcs left me wanting. It was a safe ending, but largely unsatisfying. On the whole; it was still, by a wide margin, the best season of Discovery. They ultimately landed it safely, but zero style points. I should look up a Top Twenty DS9 episode list. Sisko's hair is like Riker's beard, a sign of when quality seasons start.

JohnRogers
Season one of DS9 is not how I remember it. The Nagus was fun but it is time to skip ahead to Duet then on to season two. Edited June 16 by JohnRogers

If got a lot better toward the end. Season two is really taking ambitious swings at the nature of the canon with a lot of legacy cameos. I'm still working my way through it.
KenJennings
I finished season 2 of Prodigy. The fact that this kind of incredibly complex, dense, and overtly technical writing is intended for a younger audience is a big surprise. The biggest downside of this show is the the fact the crew is a group of misfit kids who keep turning back to goofy kid humor. But if you set that aside, you're left with a core of excellent, ambitious, classic Star Trek. Prodigy is an Epilogue to Voyager in many ways, and could easily be rewritten as "The Search for Chakotay", who is lost in both space and time. The legacy characters are all on point, and Chakotay in particular gets some of his best moments as a character ever. I don't want to ruin too much, but on top of being a Voyager epilogue, the series also ties into Picard extremely well, and has cameos from other legacy Trek (Especially one major loose end.) They make some big impacts on the Canon, including the establishment of one particular plot device that I'm still trying to process whether I love or hate. I might label Prodigy "required Trek viewing", and I only wish this kind of writing had been reserved for a more 'serious' presentation.
