  1. 1. Hold Your Fire is as bad ass and metal as anything by Poison or Warrant

    • Yes, it rocks in your face.
    • Yeah maybe, I never really concidered it.
    • No, that album is flaccid.
    • It's not awesome NY style pizza bad ass, more like Chicago style messy casserole like Peter Cetera.

Yes of course. Poison and Warrant are the wet cardboard of the metal world.

Besides being bad a** and metal as noted, Hold Your Fire as an album 'has balls', which is evident on the cover.

Just don't put Ballbreaker by AC/DC near the album.

Wait until you hear that band that Stuart from Beavis And Butthead loves.

Which is it?

I like Hold Your Fire (or at least a handful of tracks from it), but not because it's "metal". Rush stopping having anything in common with metal sometime around Permanent Waves.

Signals, Power Windows, Presto, Roll the Bones, and most of Counterparts also trended fairly far from 'metal' or 'heavy', a select few tracks over those many albums being the exceptions.

Did I miss the point of the thread?

The bass playing on HYF is probably the best of Geddy's career.

It's definitely up there for me.

The Rick may sound great, and the Fender has quite the monstrous tone, but don't overlook the power of the Wal. Every Bass Dirk has touched gets blessed

The picture of Lars Ulrich's dartboard from the Nothing Else Matters video isn't showing up for some reason.

Mustaine has put the hoodoo on it!

You did miss the point but that's okay. Agreed, HYF is a great album.

It isn't their worst.

But comparisons with Poison & Warrant are putting the bar way way too low!

Poison & Warrant are about as bad ass as Cuddles The Bear!

Oh God my ex drug me to see them once cuz she thought the singer was hot. A band that's as cliche' as it gets. It was brutal.

Not a fan but if you look at what the members of winger have done other than winger, you might be surprised. Especially the drummer.

So that explains the malfunction at the Grammys with Lady Gaga.

I don't know about who is more metal, but what is beyond doubt is that both Poison and Warrant are both utter shite....
