If You Could Throw Out Only THREE Rush Albums

Rush (1974) - not a bottom 3 for me, but it seems like the dark horse of their discography because it's the only one without Neil

Presto (1989) - On this album, it just seems like they were thinking - "alright, now we're backing the synths and fronting the guitar more... now what?"

Test For Echo (1996) - seems like they were running out of ideas here for the most part. "Half the world is, Half the world was"

I wouldn't go as far as chucking them out, but my least favourite three Rush albums are -

Snakes & Arrows

Test For Echo

Presto

I’d buy two more Snakes & Arrows then throw all three out! :P

Real answer:

Snakes...only has a few songs that I think are okay, the others I dislike or really dislike

Bones...has a couple of songs I really like, the rest are forgettable or I dislike

Test...has a couple of songs that I think are okay or good, everything else is forgettable

I'm surprised at the Counterparts hate. There's at least 5 songs I love on that disc, more than RTB.

I'm not surprised at the Presto hate. On that we shall agree to disagree.

My three tossers:

Rush

Caress of Steel

Test For Echo

On a different day I might sub in Vapor Trails for either Caress or TFE, but that's my mood today.

Hold Your Fire

Test For Echo

and . . . uh, yeah, probably Roll The Bones

Edited to add: I totally get that Feedback is maybe the least essential album, but I don't really think of that as a Rush album, so I exempted it, just as I did with the live albums . . . As you were.

Feedback :I *NEVER* listen to this CD and only have it because I'm a fan. I forget it even exists most of the time

Snakes:Rush decides to go folk rock fusion and (except for Far Cry) end up boring their fans to tears

Clockwork: Too long too dense too chaotic poor mix and Geddy can't sing well anymore

2112

Surely you jest?

Not at all. I've never cared much for it.

Wow.....definitely a minority opinion

So apparently Presto >>>>>>>>>>>>> 2112?

First of all, how dare you

Yeah I'm a big Presto fan but even I wouldn't go THAT far.

lol

2112, PW, and MP are all sacred for 99% of Rush fans.

HYF

T4E

Feedback if it counts, if not, then Snakes and Arrows. I do love Far Cry though.
