Rolling Stone Magazine - The Spirit of Neil Peart

Thanks for sharing that. Great, sad, read. Made me happy they got to have one last normal "boozy dinner" together near the end. Those moments of normalcy are so often lost in those situations.

Really well said. I echo your sentiments.

I'm not crying! You're crying!

The part that finally got to me was setting up the drum kit in the living room. Too much.

It must have made Neil really proud that his daughter was following his passion for the drums.

I had NO IDEA Alex had a health scare last March!

I hadn't heard that either... must have kept it fairly quiet.

For me, it was the hug and kiss from Alex.

For me, it was the image of Neil listening back to all his old work, for the last time, in the last year of his life...

Jeeeebus.

Apparently, these guys are just good at everything they do, including keep secrets! Glad Al's better; to have lost him so soon after Neil would have been a lot.

Yeah - after Neil's passing, to lose another member would have been unimaginable.

Yes, thanks Alex for not dying on us. Scary times.

But great article, and yes, super sad. All of it.

Only would've made 2020 much worse. 2020 was a garbage year to begin with since the news of Neil's death anyways

(“You can do a lot in a lifetime,” he wrote in the lyrics to “Marathon,” one of Rush’s most powerful songs, “if you don’t burn out too fast.”) That was one of his signatures as a drummer, too, cramming an improbable amount of rhythmic information into each bar of music; he made his living by pushing the limits of time.

Beautiful.
