A former brewpub I frequented closed down its stand alone operation to become part of the Sistrunk Marketplace, a food hall outside of downtown Ft. Lauderdale. I decided to check it out. They do online reservations to insure social distancing, which was no big deal. Arrived and did valet parking, which posted a link to my phone for when I was ready to leave. Walked in and the guy at the front desk handled the reservation and explained things; walk up and order at one of the places, or sit down somewhere and order via phone QR code. Sat down at the brewpub bar, ordered a beer, and looked around. A guy on solo guitar/drum machine was performing Seger/Marley/Eagles/etc. Brought up the codes and ordered a beer brat sandwich with kraut, which arrived super quick and was well done. The beers were great as I expected. Rauf, who runs the brewpub is a top flight brewer, and his beer runs the gamut of styles. All in all a fine afternoon, for sure!

One opened just a few minutes from where I was working just before COVID a year ago in Rancho Cucamonga. The Umai place was still under construction then. I saw a vendor of theirs at Santa Monica Pier a couple of years ago. They're basically Japanese style hot dogs.

Post-Covid, I think this is how the traditional malls will be able to survive; turn it into mostly food and entertainment venues. The days where you need 18 f***ing shoe stores in one place are over. Edited by HemiBeers

The Sistrunk Market that PJ mentions has a website...

Seems like good use of abandoned malls.

Was this it?

Yeah it was. But Rauf, the owner and brewmaster hooked up with this place and hasn't missed a step.

Been to mine a few times and they're great as well. The company is Native Son and they got another one not too far away in the OC in Santa Ana.
