Ive seen it all so I'm done with Sam.

I've seen every Van Hagar Tour, only to see Eddie, Alex and Michael.

My favorite Sammy performance was when his band opened for MONTROSE.

It was incredible. Concord Pavilion!! MONTROSE headlined. Blew my away!!!!

New video from Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony posted yesterday.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZtQR24ouV8

I don't like that he's playing concerts right now...but generally I think Sammy is a really down to earth guy and he could not have been sweeter in this message. So good to hear from Michael Anthony as well. I can't even imagine what it must've felt like to play that song that night. If I were in their shoes, I'm not sure I could've done it.

Sammy's bands are side project circle jerks. Beach concerts and odd performances, and his vocals are weird, his voice goes through his tequila-enlarged nose these days. He needs to go solo or retire, but actually playing with the Circle and Chickenfoot IS being retired.

Thank you Pat!!!! He says that he plays "early Samny? MY ASS!!!!!! His Circle Jerk Performances are boring and uninspired. He has a great band they put on a snooze fest.

I was very happy before Covid when it was going to be

Sammy Circle

Whitesnake

Night Ranger

Meaning I would have gone back to the casino after Whitesnake.

I wouldn't waste my time seeing Sammy ever again unless he brings back his old band from the Capital early Geffen Daze.

Kind of funny. The punk band Circle Jerks has a great album called "Wonderful." There is a song on there they wrote to pay homage to Sammy and METAL.

"American Heavy Metal Weekend."

It rocks!

Sammy needs to hang em up, no wonder he got booted from Van Halen! I have the Chickenfoot albums and somehow the albums make Satch sound like ordinary Joe and Sammy sounds like he decided to save his voice and strangle some cats and record that instead.

Not for nothing, but Sammy looks like hell, and Michael looks like he had plastic surgery.

I've got your back Lorraine. They look horrible. I don't even think they party much.

Getting old does suck. It's life. But wow!!

I think David Lee Roth looks great!!!!

If you recall Lorraine I had seventh row center for DLRB and KISS!! Oakland Ca! March 6th!!! My last concert of the year!!

Roth looked great and moved great around the stage!!!!

He looked better to me than he did in 2012.

ROTH RULES!!!!

VAN HALEN IS NOTHING WITHOUT EDDIE, DAVE, MICHAEL and ALEX!!!!! JMO!

Born in the Netherlands, Eddie Van Halen was the American Dream personified.

The reason he was always smiling is because he was doing what he loved.

How many of us can say the same?

I've seen Roth twice with Van Halen - fun shows, with classic material, but didn't even come close to when I saw Sam Halen in the 80s.

At the 2007 show, Roth threw on a captain's hat and dry-humped an inflatable microphone, while confetti rained down and purple lights flashed.

The show I saw in 2015 - the last VH show ever - was much better.

Never saw 80s Roth VH - wish I did.

I've been going on YouTube and pulling up videos of people playing Eruption. A standard line of mine has been that you can go to Guitar Center and find 100 people who can play Eruption, but EVH created Eruption. I was mistaken. Most of that 100 apparently can't quite do it the way EVH did. 42 years later, it's still somewhat rare to find someone who can completely nail it.

Also - the proper chords for the Jump keyboard part.

BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi has explained to Rolling Stone magazine how Eddie Van Halen ended up co-writing the song "Evil Eye" on the band 1994 album "Cross Purposes".

"When we were doing 'Cross Purposes', [VAN HALEN] were playing in Birmingham. Obviously, I went to see him, and we were rehearsing. I said, 'You ought to come down to rehearsal if you want.' 'Oh, can I?' I said, 'I'll pick you up from the hotel.' I said, 'Let's go and get a guitar.' We went down to the music shop in Birmingham. I said, 'Can you lend us a guitar for Eddie?' And of course, they went, 'Oh, oh, wha'?' [Laughs] So Eddie came in with me, and we got one of his guitars, his own model. And he came to rehearsal. We played some of the SABBATH stuff for him. One of his favorites was 'Into The Void', strangely enough. We played that and we went back to writing. I think it was 'Evil Eye', and I said, 'Go on, you play the solo on this.' He did and it was really great. When we recorded it, of course, I tried to duplicate that, but I couldn't. [Laughs]"

Asked if he still has a tape of Eddie's solo somewhere, Tony said: "You know what, there is. I don't know where it is amongst my lot, but there is one. I know I've got one. It was a real gem."

Reflecting on Eddie's impact on music, Tony said: "He's had probably one of the biggest influences that you could have on people, from his generation onwards. He came up with something completely different. How hard is that, to come up with something different guitar-wise? I think he's inspired so many people. There's millions of people out there all trying to do that tapping stuff and play like Eddie and play Eddie's solos. I think he's had a huge impression on millions and millions of guitar players."

JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford has reflected on the passing of Eddie Van Halen. The legendary VAN HALEN guitarist died on Tuesday (October 6) at the age of 65 after a long battle with cancer.

Asked in a new video interview with Metal Injection if he had any personal memories of Eddie to share with the viewers, Rob said: "A couple of strong memories. The frst one, when I was introduced to Eddie's spectacular guitarmanship was in the very early days of JUDAS PRIEST. Our manager, Dave Corke at the time, came over to where I was living and banged on the door and said, 'You've gotta come sit in my car and listen to this cassette that somebody sent me from America. It's this new band. They're called VAN HALEN. I don't know anything about 'em, but just listen to this music.' So I went and sat in the car outside my house, and we played the whole first VAN HALEN album. And I was just mesmerized — I was mesmerized by his guitar playing. It was like something we'd never ever heard before from a guitar player. So that was the first time. And then, some years later, PRIEST were special guests to VAN HALEN at the Santa Monica Civic, and we had a show together, and it was just a thrill because we were all fans of them. Turns out they, too, were fans of PRIEST, especially Eddie, with what Glenn [Tipton] and K.K. [Downing] were doing at the time. So, we became friends, and we kept that friendship going.

"I know that Eddie came to PRIEST shows, because afterwards, I'd find out that he'd been with Glenn and they were talking about guitars and so on and so forth, like guitar players do," he continued.

"Man, it's just horrible — it's absolutely horrible," Halford added, referring to Eddie's untimely death. "We've lost so many people this year, on top of this pandemic. When will it stop, you know? But you have to pull through all that, pull through the rubble, and do what we always do when we lose these musical giants — is put their music on. 'Cause I was blasting VAN HALEN all day yesterday to get me through the loss of this incredible player."

"Eddie Van Halen was a brilliant guitarist who started a technique of guitar playing which was emulated by a whole generation of guitarists. He was one of the nicest musicians I ever met in the music business.

"Very shy and not at all conceited about his ability as a guitar player. Frank Zappa said he reinvented the guitar. I agree. He will be sadly missed but his brilliant legacy will always be remembered. The ultimate guitar hero."

-Richie Blackmore

I don't know if the following point was already made on this thread - Eddie Van Halen was more than a guitarist. He was a composer. Melody and rhythm were up there with the solos and tone.

It really flies under the radar but these words could not be truer.
