driventotheedge
Age 77. HOFer for the Bears. Possibly the most electrifying football player I've ever seen and I've been watching football since 1964. His 6 TD game against the 49ers as a rook in 1965 was utterly dominating. 9 carries, 113 rushing yards, 4 TDs. 2 catches, 89 yards, 1 TD. 5 punt returns, 134 yards, 1 TD. With 6 total touchdowns, Gale Sayers might have had the best single game ever. Nova Carmina
Aw, shit. I never saw him play (struck down too soon!), but we've lost another great one. RIP
driventotheedge
And btw, I was watching this game on my parents B&W in the living room of the new house we'd just moved in to. They are still alive and still live in that house soon to be 55 years later. Here's a youtube highlight video of all 6 TDs http://youtu.be/7ooIZqbT2kA Edited September 23, 2020 by driventotheedge
Derek19
I'm sorry, to hear, see, and read this. He'll be missed. My condolences, to his family, and friends. R.I.P., Gale. Edited September 23, 2020 by Derek19
Lorraine
Even I know who he is. 77 is kind of young - what did he die from?

blueschica
We loved reading "I Am Third", his autobiography, when we were in high school. Such huge accomplishments! RIP, Mr. Sayers.
pjbear05
Even I know who he is. 77 is kind of young - what did he die from? Per his stepson, complications of dementia and Alzheimer's.
RUSHHEAD666
I remember watching "Brian's Song" as a kid on ABC. Great TV Movie! It was so good they put it in the theaters but it bombed. RIP GALE!!!
