Never heard of it.

It was a big UK satirical show in the mid '80s to mid '90s. Basically took the p*ss out of politicians, celebrities, royalty etc.

As Margaret Thatcher was the British prime minister for a large proportion of the show's existence, she, and her government were prime targets.

I wouldn't have thought that it would have travelled that well to your side of the pond though.

Thatcher bashing should travel well to most of the world.

Yeah, it was on the mid-80s when I was 10,11 or so; I had to stay up to late watch it, but thankfully my parents` thought satire was important :D Edited by IbanezJem

After watching the 1st episode here are some thoughts.

Brilliant!

My main concern was that they were going to go lite, in regards to today's current political/social climate. Not a bit of it. The script was brutal, relentless and went (equally) for all the targets you'd expect and hope for.

Notable mentions (spoilers avoided) - The New Zealand Mary Poppins observation Kiwisocialistic dadada etc. : ) Trump's Covid negotiations. Boris J's student hypocrisy. Dominic Cummings was hilarious, just as the puppet . The Meghan Harry L.A. scenes were great too. Disney, Bizney! And the F1 driver.

The only criticism would be the voices. Trump's voice didn't seem too accurate to me, with a few other characters. And it did seem a little crude. I mean Trump's asshole? Actually I think Trump's puppet could have been done better. The top lip's too pronounced. It's almost as if they've tried too hard to get it right.

Really looking forward to episode 2 if they can maintain this standard. Celebrities politicians and all in the public eye, need ribbing sometimes. No better time than now it seems. : )

This Nancy Pelosi sketch is hilarious. Strangely like the UK left wing, playing to the demographics. No one is safe on S.I.

Yeah, that`s pretty good. Satire isn`t dead, real life has just swallowed it up! The Trump skits aren`t working for me so well, as I think he actually said everything the puppet said.

Politics is entertaining more than ever now, it seems. The Spitting Image script now, seems more formulated than in the days of old - to its detriment. The 3rd episode was bad. 4th was better. It doesn't have the anarchic bite as it set out to have for me. In the backdrop of today's politics, it's caustic effect has lessened. We've become desensitized. :D Still, I'd rather have this take on world politics and global culture than not. The US and of or A , Election special made me chuckle.

I`ve just watched some of the election special, and some of it made me smile. I think the fact nobody respects any politicians anymore makes them bloody hard to lampoon. Especially the current Tory party  Edited by IbanezJem
