"Something For Nothing" rocks hardest.

Yes it does!

SFN - very underrated track in the Rush catalog. The lyrics are the epitome of what Rush is about.

well i guess PTB could be the epitome of Rush as well. :smoke: But I still prefer SFN.

New poll: "Name your favorite internal organ."

Seriously, this is impossible. They're all great tunes. Side 2, as a whole, is better than Side 1.

Overture/Syrinx/Discovery are incredible -- best music on the album -- but the end of Side 1 is a letdown.

Gun to head answer?

I'm sweating, seriously. I don't want to betray my past self.

(pistol cocks)

Umm...

LESSONS. There, I said it.

Wait, no -- Bangkok. I forgot about Tears.

Never mind. Can't do it.

lol

I love the whole record but I’m going to give a nod to Tears because it’s the only one of those soft ballady early songs that works for me.

lessons is the odd one here it seems. isnt that an alex lyric song?

tears is another atypical tune with hugh syme as guest musician. iirc

i always love watching that episode of the twilight zone too.

I'm pretty sure the only song Alex has written lyrics on is Chemistry, (and possibly In The End)

“Lessons” is an interesting song because you wrote the lyrics. How did that come about?

We just thought it would be kind of cool if Ged and I wrote lyrics for at least one song. He wrote “Tears.” That was really the reason. I can’t say that I’m comfortable writing lyrics. Even later on with my solo record, Victor, it was the hardest part. It doesn’t flow for me the way I would like it to. And I’m not sure that would be different if I did it more often. You know, Ged’s “Tears” is so typical of the kind of stuff that he likes to write and do, even today. He likes those more ballad-y pieces that are emotive and sweet. I’m the dirty, heavy guy [laughs].

I think Ged and Al both contributed lyrical ideas/phrases.
