Rolling Stones fans: Rank the albums in order of kick assness

The Stones are probably the richest band in the world too. Here's the stats according to google:

KEEF: $500 million

Mick: $500 million

Wood: $250 million

Watts: $200 million

Bill: $80

Is it strange that I think that's lower than I thought Mick and Keith were worth?

Well they might be worth more, I'm just going off internet search info.

They've no doubt spent a lot on luxurious things, so that's probably about right. Jagger has like 10 kids or something. So, he probably has spent a lot spoiling them. Keith probably dropped a lot of money on the drug problems he used to have.

How much money do you think they've made over the decades?

I think Mick and Keith have probably made over a billion dollars in their lives. The popularity and longevity of the band is like no other. It's not hard to believe that both have made that amount.

Yeah.

How the hell did Bono get $700 Million. I would even pay him in washers!

I read all the Ian Rankin novels about 20 years ago and his character Inspector Rebus is a big Rolling Stones fan. A couple of the novels are named after Stones albums, Let it Bleed and Black and Blue.

Not the hugest Stones fan, but I do enjoy them a lot. Here are my favs in order:

1. Let It Bleed

2. Sticky Fingers

3. Exile On Main St.

4. Some Girls

5. Beggar's Banquet

6. Tattoo You

7. It's Only Rock And Roll

8. Voodoo Lounge

9. Undercover

Haven't really heard the rest, though I almost heard Goat's Head Soup once, that would rank pretty highly.

Duck, if you're looking for a place to start with them the four album run of Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile On Main St is the best way to go.

Some of their albums from the 60s have different track listings for the US and UK releases. The US version of Aftermath has Paint It, Black as the opening track but the UK version has Mother's Little Helper as the opener and doesn't have Paint It, Black. There are some other songs that are different too.

What usually happens when I decide to dive into the albums of a band I haven't previously bought is I buy one album and go from there. But in some cases when the band has a big catalogue I may say ok I'll start with four albums, I'll just pick four, like say the four you just mentioned. Then before you know it the four turn into six, then eight, then ten, then twelve. And this is before I've even bought any yet. And in the end I end up with all 29 albums or whatever. So what I'll probably do with the Stones is get every single studio album, a couple of live albums and a best of. If I say Yeah I'll just buy four, you know what's going to happen, and it will happen. The only way I won't buy about 30 Rolling Stones albums now is if I decide to quit on the whole idea. I'll probably wait a while and see how I like the landscape after this virus shitstorm blows over. I'll eventually come back to this thread though and make an announcement. Most likely "I just bought 29 Stones albums everyone!" :smoke:

Through the Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2)

What about the collection from the mid 70's Metamorphosis?

Of course, this order would probably change by the day.

“Some Girls” and “Sticky Fingers” are a virtual tie today.

Also, I didn’t include compilations or live albums.

I can’t wait to see Custom55’s list, as he is the biggest Stones fan I know.

Dirty Work and Undercover seem to be the unfavoured albums for most people. What's the problem with these two?

They’re actually ok records, just seem a little uninspired to me.

Kind of seemed like “we have to make a Stones record”.

I confess I need to go back and give them a listen as it has been awhile.

Custom55 is THE Stones fan of fans...

...I think even he’s lost count as to how many times he’s seen them live.

His list would be gospel.

I like the fact that Dirty Work, based on how they're dressed on the front, looks totally like an 80's record. They need those 80's records too!

Yeah, those two albums are very uninspired. They just put them out to fulfill contract obligations it seems. Mick and Keith were hating each other at the time as well. They had been together for so long without a break there was a lot of friction between them and a break was needed. The songwriting on those two albums suffered because of it. There's still some good songs. One Hit To The Body is a favorite of mine.

After a couple year break they came back with Steel Wheels which I thought was a pretty good comeback album.

Based on what I've heard, the problem isn't so much that they sound 80s (though they definitely do) but that the songs just aren't as good.

Well once I've bought them I'll have them and I'll like them whether I like it or not! :16ton:
