Between Mindcrime and Justice for All. Gotta go with Metallica. "One" was a monster that year. Probably the best video of the year.

Not on the list and would get my pick over all of these: REM's Green.

I had that on the list and I replaced it at the last minute.

My fav Metallica vs. my fav Maiden. My dad would choose Maiden, but my heart lies with Metallica.

For me, this was a close call between And Justice for All..., Operation Mindcrime, and Vivid. I love King's X, and they appeared on the scene here, but their best was yet to come. DLR cheesed out. I was not into the new Maiden (past their "best by" date!) Megadeth and Malmsteen, were letdowns for me. This list also contains a fair amount of Cheese/Hair Metal that I never liked - and forebodes of the perfect storm that led to the explosion of Grunge in a couple years.

I went with Vivid. Saw LC twice that year. Wil Calhoun was a big influence to my playing at the time. I liked the marriage of funk grooves with the heaviness.

I've gone with Maiden in this one, it's the most consistently good album of the bunch, with a lot of interesting things happening. I also prefer it to the previous Maiden album as well. It's probably the last really great Maiden album too.

This ties the poll up with Metallica and Maiden both on 8 votes.

It's my favorite Maiden album. So prog!

Weird year for me; I was 25, married for a year, and had pretty much gotten away from the metal and prog of my youth and mostly listened to what was probably considered Adult Oriented Rock.

Most listened to albums from 1988, at the time, were Steve Winwood - Roll With It, Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1, REM - Green, and Big Audio Dynamite - Tighten Up Vol. 88.

Now, with the advantage of time and later discoveries, I had to go with Justice.
