pretty sure nocturne was played live.

i love that song and alex ripped it fiercely.................

I'm pretty sure it wasn't. They definitely didn't do it on the VT tour and I'm certain it didn't show up on any tours after that.

How reliable is Setlist. fm?

For a band like Rush who would mostly keep the same setlist during each tour, it's pretty reliable. For a band like Pearl Jam who never plays the same set twice probably not as much.

It's a good source overall. Most setlists over the last decade or so from any band you want to look up should be very accurate.

If I remember the Power Windows - A Tribute to RUSH website has the songs listed there never played live.

Unless they revamped the website, I remember seeing it there.

Update: The tour part has been removed, which was put in the Rush: Wandering the Face of the Earth: The Official Touring History Hardcover book.

I went on archive.org and retrieve the page where it shows 'album tracks never performed live' here.

I tried checking that site too since I know they used to have extensive Rush tour information. It's been a long time since I was last there, so I didn't know the tour section had been removed and the site layout completely revamped.

According to the "Wandering the Face of the Earth" book, "I Think I'm Going Bald" was definitely played on some dates of the Caress of Steel tour. No recordings appear to exist, though.

That makes sense to me. at that point they did not have that many songs to chose from for their setlist. especially short songs

How reliable is Setlist. fm?

well, its user generated and subject to edit so its hard to say. probably the more people who click on the i was there button, the more accurate?

its a great resource but i have noticed some inaccuracies or omissions

typically they list the well known songs but not the lesser known songs. as they dont recognize them i guess?

also medleys and extended jams muddy the water too imo.

By my count there is audio evidence of 137 different songs played live from 1974-2015. In that count I include Wipe Out and Paint It Black but not that little country ditty that Alex would play occasionally through the years. This does not include I Think I'm Going Bald or any parts of TFOL. Those were likely played but there is no circulating recordings that I'm aware of, only a pretty bogus rumour of a January 1976 Massey Hall recording containing parts of TFOL and Making Memories.

I suppose it's also possible that Take A Friend/Can't Fight It and Not Fade Away were also played live but again, no evidence.
