Entre_Perpetuo Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 (edited) For me there are a number of options, but nothing gets it so on the nose as this somewhat under appreciated gem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSdBtoIIYT4 Edited April 8, 2020 by Entre_Perpetuo
Nova Carmina Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 That's a fun pick. I'd go with Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" or anybody's version of "Train Kept a Rollin'" 3

Classic rock represents nothing to me. 2

RushFanForever Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Train Kept A Rollin is a staple for sure. Don't The Yardbirds have a version? You could combine your two picks in one (almost ;) ) "Train Kept A-Rollin'" (or "The Train Kept A-Rollin'") is a song first recorded by musician Tiny Bradshaw in 1951. Originally performed in the style of a jump blues, Bradshaw borrowed lyrics from an earlier song and set them to an upbeat shuffle arrangement that inspired other musicians to perform and record it. Johnny Burnette and the Rock and Roll Trio made an important contribution in 1956 – they reworked it as a guitar riff-driven song, which features an early use of intentionally distorted in rock music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dk6gCXw2BhA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2nCvdHAN7Y 2
RushFanForever Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 (edited) Here's my pick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIgX4e2Z9Qk However, if I had a classic rock station, this would get played on the air. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWGPznPnxkE Edited April 8, 2020 by RushFanForever 2

It's one of those tunes that comes with the Rock 'n' Roll starter kit. The Yardbirds did it, Led Zeppelin played it live, and in my iTunes library I have versions by Aerosmith (a favorite), Motorhead (natch), and the all-star jam when Jeff Beck got into the RRHOF.
bluefox4000 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 one pick for me personally is More Than a Feeling by Boston. Mick 5
tangy Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again Certainly the greatest scream ever. imo And great lyrics that still seem relevant.............. 4
Citizen of the World Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 %20https%3A//i.makeagif.com/media/8-04-2015/5lDZ8M.gifThat's the first one I thought of too
J2112YYZ Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Not a song but I usually think of Zeppelin when I hear the term classic rock. Overall they just represent those words best for me. The label was pretty much created so radio stations could play as much Zeppelin as they wanted anyways, right? 4
