Both artists had only five albums and evolved drastically from first to last. Which is your choice?

I discovered Talk Talk when No Doubt covered their song 'It's My Life'.

On a side note, vocalist Gwen Stefani of No Doubt inducted The Police into the 2003 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Both bands influenced No Doubt.

No Doubt would've also entered the 'five album' wonder category, had it not been for their 2012 comeback release.

From the November 1991 issue of Guitar Player with Geddy and Alex here.

What do you listen to for enjoyment?

Geddy: I listen to a lot of things - Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, even old country music - that have little to do with what I play. I don't analyze the snare or guitar sounds, I just enjoy the singing and songwriting. In terms of contemporary bands, I listen to the Cure, Simple Minds, and I'm really into Talk Talk's remix CD - what a good compilation. I listen to Metallica from time to time, just to crank it up. A lot of ethnic music, too, stuff or Peter Gabriel's label [Real World]. I put the discs on and let it soak in. I recently got a compilation of Haitian music assembled by [film director] Jonathan Demme [Konbit! Burning Rhythms of Haiti, A&M]. That's a great, *great* record.

Fitting since because of a falling out with Steve Lilywhite, he ended up producing Once Upon A Time by Simple Minds. Power Windows does kind of sound like them on the album at times on songs like Manhattan Project and Marathon.

Stewart Copeland on fire.

I love him. That entire concert is great.

Here's my favorite Stewart moment from it:

http://youtu.be/_L9zpD8ZDig

That was such a great tour... I saw it in Tacoma.

Oh wow Allen! You are trying to make my heart race. STEWART RULES!!!

Even his drumming on "Wrapped Around Your Finger" is off the charts.

Drummers with octobans rule.

Dude! I had a crazy lucid dream last night.

I was in this crowded outdoor and indoor theater. Simon Phillips was performing. He had his typical huge drum kit but it was gold with gold hardware. It was incredible.

After the gig I asked him if I could help him carry his drum set to his van.

He didn't have a drum tech. Simon told me that he loves tearing down his own kit and building it back up because he becomes closer to know his drum set.

I agreed and told him it was a great ritual.

So I remember trying to pick up some of his toms and carrying them out to the parking lot but there were people everywhere still in the walkways and I couldn't get outside.

Simon thanked me once the place cleared. He told me that if I go to his next gig that I could play on his kit during soundcheck.

Then I woke up.

Yeah sorry, I am crazy.

My dreams are sooooo real.

It's all about

Neil

Simon

Stewart

One band is famous and very commercially successful, while the other is a cult band.

It's tough to compare them.

Yeah, the only thing I know about Talk Talk is No Doubt's cover of It's My Life.

Such a shame.
