Red flags in hindsight

Didnt someone here say that they heard he was having pain at the top of his head when things got grueling/stressful on the R40 tour? Thought I read that, and if Im wrong I apologize.

We're talking about the "yarmulke" of pain quote, he was talking about fatigue and when it gets to such an extreme level it feels like the description he gave, not a new thing I guess, but a way to describe how tired he was.

On Sunday night, before I found out my (our) Neil had pass on Monday (6 days has passed before I even knew), I was actually thinking of Neil and about trying to get a book from him to read. Then, I was looking at my IG feed when I ask one of my friend what has happen, and then told me that Neil had passed away. Then, a possibility came when I was thinking of Neil, I was restless for a few days, like something was very wrong for some reason. It still painful for all of us but at least, he is resting. I also told my friend that at least he is with Jackie and Selena again, but was sad to leave Carrie and Olivia behind. I too was thinking what happen to Neil in 2016 when I went to check up on his website. Never did I think that we would lose Neil this early in the year. He was too young to die.

The law of very large numbers suggest that it is almost certain that a Rush fan will have been thinking about Peart and hoping he was ok around the time of his death or when the announcement was made.

I can sleep soundly in my bed tonight now knowing Tony R has had his say in this thread. :sundog:

Hindsight is always better than foresight, unless you have brain damage of course, in which case hindsight is probably not so great either. But I too thought it was really weird that he suddenly retired from posting anything after May 2016 on his own site. Michael continued to throw occasional tidbits and old photos up on the instagram account, so I figured it was just Neil being Neil, which at the end of the day is correct, I guess.

Their donation to the Gord Downie Foundation in November 2016 make so much more sense now...

Rush had been connected to the Tragically Hip long before Gord’s terrible illness:

Also, the Hip opened some shows for Rush in the second half of the 80's. Thinking of that show now, who could have imagined the lead singer of the opening act and that awesome drummer of the headlining act would die of the same illness.

I knew about some 1990s shows but not 80s. In any case, yeah I’m sure his death was felt in the Rush camp
