Airship2112
X Why try? I know whyThis feeling inside me says it's time I was goneClear head, new life aheadIt's time I was king, now not just one more pawn Fly by night, away from hereChange my life againFly by night, goodbye my dearMy ship isn't coming and I just can't pretend Moon rise, thoughtful eyesStaring back at me from the window besideNo fright or hindsightLeaving behind that empty feeling inside Fly by night, away from hereChange my life againFly by night, goodbye my dearMy ship isn't coming and I just can't pretendFly by night, away from hereChange my life againFly by night, goodbye my dearMy ship isn't coming and I just can't pretend Start a new chapterFind what I'm afterIt's changing every dayThe change of the seasonsIs enough of a reasonTo want to get awayQuiet and pensiveMy thoughts apprehensiveThe hours drift awayLeaving my homelandPlaying a lone handMy life begins today Fly by night, away from hereChange my life againFly by night, goodbye my dearMy ship isn't coming and I just can't pretendMy ship isn't coming and I just can't pretendFly by night, away from hereChange my life againFly by night, goodbye my dearMy ship isn't coming and I just can't pretendMy ship isn't coming and I just can't pretendMy ship isn't coming and I just can't pretend

cygnify
So many... but one in particular that resonates strongly for me If the future's looking darkWe're the ones who have to shineIf there's no one in controlWe're the ones who draw the lineThough we live in trying timesWe're the ones who have to tryThough we know that time has wings We're the ones who have to fly
Timbale
Prime Mover has always been a favorite: From a point on the compassTo magnetic northThe point of the needle moving back and forth From the point of entry-Until the candle is burnedThe point of departure is not to return I have always loved these ones, too. I like that the last line of that stanza, and the one that mirrors it - "the point of the journey is not to arrive" both have a double meaning. The point of departure is the exact place that the journey starts, so it is behind you once you start, and therefore does not return. But also the point, as in the prescribed meaning, is to keep going...to not return. I love that.

Better to leave the images in my head :notworthy:
That's interesting
Hi, just joined and loving reading all your fav lyrics: There are so many, its impossible to choose. So Alternating currentsIn a tidewater surgeRational resistanceTo an unwise urge Love this and the whole of Prime Mover. Just reminds me of String Theory and ancient civilizations that discovered electricity, going forward from that to "watch the world go round". Just amazing. From Subdivisions:Growing up, it all seems so one-sidedOpinions all providedThe future pre-decidedDetached and subdividedIn the mass-production zoneNowhere is the dreamerOr the misfit so aloneI love Subdivisions because it says to me we need to flip this reality or constant triangulation we experience on this planet and see the truth of what is going on around us. Very clear meaning song and video and a discourse that makes you think. Should we ever stop seeking and being curious,,nope.

Bahamas
I have considered posting these lyrics for at least a year, scrolled back to make sure, nothing.More of a "lyrics that place you there", than lyrics that are great to read with the music: Test For Echo: (Think of the context, the video vertigo, don't touch that dial, miles of yellow tape - silhouetted chalk lines) He writes: "Tough-talking hood boys in pro-team logo knock-offs" but as things get worse, it's "Nail-biting hood boys in borrowed ties and jackets". Brilliant?!

WHIG
While all of his lyrics are beautiful, some of them reach me more than others, the first one to come to mind being the opening lyrics in Fountain of Lamneth. I. In the Valley I am bornI am meI am newI am freeLook at meI am youngSight unseenLife unsung... My eyes have just been openedAnd they're open very wideImages around meDon't identify insideImages around meJust one blur I recognizeThe one that soothes and feedsMy way of life is easyAnd as simple are my needs

Carpenters_daughter
There are so many, he was a true poet. But this is my favourite. Just between us I think it's time for us to recognize The differences we sometimes feared to show Just between us I think it's time for us to realize The spaces in between Leave room For you and I to grow
