Yeah. I love Dehumanizer, but it's not my favorite Dio era album.

After a couple listens, I already love how heavy and complex a lot of it seems. The debut is a tad jammier. I love both, but I tend to prefer more technical things.

The "jamminess," on the back half weakens the debut in my eyes too. When I first heard Dehumanizer, I thought the songs were all a little too similar. I appreciate it more now, but it's too tough to vault over Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules.

Reviving this thread with the release of Crash Of The Crown. I was very hesitant to put it above Crystal Ball but did it anyway. Also for some reason I had a lot of trouble ranking 10-13, probably just because I felt bad putting Equinox that low.

Styx

1. Pieces Of Eight - 1978 [blue Collar Man]

2. The Grand Illusion - 1977 [Fooling Yourself]

3. Paradise Theater - 1981 [Half-Penny, Two-Penny]

4. The Mission - 2017 [Radio Silence]

5. Cyclorama - 2003 [Do Things My Way]

6. Brave New World - 1999 [What Have They Done To You]

7. Crash Of The Crown - 2021 [Crash Of The Crown]

8. Crystal Ball - 1976 [Crystal Ball]

9. Kilroy Was Here - 1983 [Just Get Through This Night]

10. Edge Of The Century - 1990 [Love At First Sight]

11. Cornerstone - 1979 [Lights]

12. Man Of Miracles - 1974 [Evil Eyes]

13. Equinox - 1975 [suite Madame Blue]

14. Styx II - 1973 [Lady]

15. Styx - 1972 [Movement For The Common Man]

16. The Serpent Is Rising - 1973 [Jonas Psalter]

I find they're pretty consistent. Some records are obviously superior, but the ones I rank lower aren't devoid of classic Foos songs. I will say I definitely rate their newest stuff higher than most people seem to, and I think that's at least partly to do with those being records that came out after I was already a Foos fan. On the flip side though, Wasting Light is unambiguously one of their best albums.

This list will probably change frequently. I'll check back in a month. I love this bands entire discography, not 1 weak album.

KANSAS

1. Leftoverture [The Wall]

2. Point Of Know Return [Paradox]

3. Song For America [song For America]

4. The Absence Of Presence [The Absence Of Presence]

5. Masque [icarus - Borne On Wings Of Steel]

6. Kansas [Apercu]

7. The Prelude Implicit [The Voyage Of Eight Eighteen]

8. Vinyl Confessions [Crossfire]

9. Power [silhouettes In Disguise]

10. Drastic Measures [incident On A Bridge]

11. Freaks Of Nature [black Fathom 4]

12. In The Spirit Of Things [bells Of Saint James]

13. Monolith [On The Other Side]

14. Audio-Visions [No One Together]

15. Somewhere To Elsewhere [icarus II]

Honestly I had a hard time coming up with a favorite song for over half of these albums, and I'm still not 100% confident on about half of my choices, but it'll do for now.

This is a really good ranking. Like, it's difficult for me to disagree with almost any of these picks, aside from a minor quibble about preferring WACF over VH1 and FW, but certainly they're all top 3 material.

Thanks.

On different days, I could swap Van Halen II and 1984.

While Women And Children First is more... well how do I say... more album-like than Fair Warning, but Fair Warning edges over because it has higher highs, including my favorite song ever ("Mean Street")

While I have such great memories with Diver Down, 5150 just has better quality overall.

Album rankings 8-11 are great, but suffer production issues and could do without a few songs (most likely with lyrics)

Wow, that’s pretty low for Aja.

yea it's good but it's never been a fav. i like my Dan slightly with an Edge. Aja's a bit too slick for my taste with them. Come to think. Katy is slick too but i like the songs more, lol

I have a few more to get to. I've only heard Scam, Countdown, and Aja. Also, because you capitalized Edge, I now have the pleasure of imagining what The Edge would've sounded like plying with the Dan! :16ton:
