Whether it ends up being the life you thought is another thing entirely. i've been there, it is as great as it seems and perfect for someone like me, but the winter could be a challenge for emotional reasons. if i end up going in 2 years i'm gonna go in with quite a bit more than that, that's the good news. i kinda wanna stay on my same career path so i can keep building up, it's a good industry which won't die -- but being a fisherman seems really chill too.There are reasons depression and suicide rates are more or less higher in rural AK than anywhere else in the country. A straight month without sunlight north of the arctic circle every winter doesn’t help, neither does advanced cold.
