Holy Toronto! What A Trip! "Mission" Accomplished Despite My Oakland A's Being Swept! "A Ghost Of A Chance" Happened To Me One Day In Skydome!

Well I will try to make it as quick as I can!

So yes, I am putting this in the Rush Section to give this legendary section a bit of a buzz. YYBUZZZZ?

It's really no big deal but I must keep this memory in the Rush "Archives." Get it?

Not sure if many of the young Analog Kids on here do. The vinyl and cassette release of "Archives." A complete Mercury Records cash grab.

Yet I do have a cassette, US vinyl and Japanese with obi strip vinyl pressing.

It is what it is.

I know many humans have seen RUSH over 100 times and that's amazing. We are a Rush Brother and Sisterhood.

But man, I'm going to confident tonight and say that I am up there with the greatest Rush fans of all time.

There is no title. There is no pat on the back. There is no EGO involved.

It is what it is. RUSH is it for me. So are my shitting Triple Oakland A's.

So with "Much Ado About Nothing" here we go.....

I landed in YYZed on Thursday night at 11 pm Eastern. I took a cab to my room and found a bar at Midnight called The Loose Moose.

I am sure those of you in Toronto know of this bar. It was awesome!

Still being on California time I closed the bar down around 2:30 am in the morning.

Funny to note, there was only me and a couple in that bar. They were from Oakland California but were not in town to see the A's play the Jays.

Amazing bonding moment.

So, on Friday night I was by myself.

I figured when in Rome, buy a ticket close to your team.

I saw behind the A's dugout.

But this night was like no other.

It was Vlad Jr.'s first game!!!

They opened up Rogers Centre at 4:30 pm. I got in there around 5 pm!

It was incredible. It was VLADDY DAY!!!

So as the game progressed I was totally up in arms. "Time Stand Still" echoed in my brain like a bad scan "Test." Get it?

I was so bored.

2-0 Jays.

Then Robbie Grossman hits a two run bomb. All tied up 2-2.

I was jazzed. Reminded me of "Thank You Boys" by Jane's Addiction.

So then Vlad Jr steps up to the plate in the 9th.

The place was going nuts. People were standing up for this amazing kid.

It was like "The Body Electric." Lol!

This kid lasers a double down the first base side.

Pinch runner.

BOOM! A two run bomb. A walk off game! 3-2 Jays. I admit it was a great game. Hell I even bought a Vlad Jr. jersey.

I saw his first Major League hit. Historic.

I saw Ken Griffey Jr.s first hit as well in Oakland. A double.

Krazy Karma? Just fun.

So now it's Saturday.

My friends who I met on the GUP IV Wine Tour had tix behind home plate. Right in front of Geddy yet to my left.

Well, Geddy's seats were empty.

Hey, all good.

I was front row in front of my A's as they were in the batting circle. I was able to tell my A's players how much I loved them.

Rooting them on. Most just ignored me. But Khris Davis was so nice. He winked at me and nodded. It's so ironic because Khris is very much like Neil Peart.

He hates the "Limelight." Doesn't like to talk much or interact with his fans. But Khris was so nice to me.

So that game was a drag but great for the wonderful Toronto Bluejay fans.

7-1 Jays. Crushed my A's.

But it was so cool regardless. Jays fans and ushers gave me a bad time for being an A's fan. But I was not alone.

They were all very cool to me. No drama, just fun jabbing.

As a matter of fact before the game an A's representative came up to me and gave me an A's "Thank You" pin for supporting my team on the road.

Very cool.

So now was game three. Sunday afternoon.

This time I met my wonderful friend at the game. This time we had amazing seats on the field! First base side. Incredible. I knew I should have brought my glove because I thought I might get a line drive right in my melon.

Our seats were so far out you could look right into the A's dugout.

Incredible.

So my amazing friend and I were sitting in these seats during the game. Enjoying a hot dog and a beer.

I gaze over to my left and I can see Geddy there in his seats.

Chica is correct. He was there with his adorable grandson and son.

My friend turns to me and says.... "I'm sorry Earl, you missed Geddy by a day. Bummer eh?"

I said, "I know my friend but that's life, I am still honored to be here with you and it's been a great weekend despite my A's shitting the bed."

Anyway I remember talking to myself.... "It figures, I missed saying hi to Geddy by a day. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride."

Then about 20 minutes later some guy behind me tapped me on my shoulder. an "Angel On My Shoulder?" That's a great blues song by the Dave Meniketti Band. Yes, Y&T baby. I may be annoying but I try to educate as I type on and on and on.

So this guy was so nice! He overheard me talking about Geddy and Rush to my friend.

He told me that his friends are behind home plate today.

You both have great seats too

I can switch out the tickets with them so you can go behind home plate and say hi to Geddy.

He was so nice!

I told me that he loved my enthusiasm for Rush and for A's baseball.

Of course duh???

Mom and dad.

My daughters.

My brother and his family

Friends.

Health

Love

Rush

A's

Forget an order. Unconditional Love.

I may be a jack ass on here to some, but I love many on here too. You know who you are.

Anyway,

We did the ticket swap in section 118.

My friend and I went down to the front row behind home plate.

Now my friend knows Geddy.

So he said hi, then I waved at Geddy and said hey! He nodded and said hi.

Then I turned around and showed him my Rickey Henderson jersey.

Then opened up my jersey and showed him my Matt Chapman tee shirt!

He smiled and nodded at me.

Very cool and discreet.

He was with his adorable grandson and son.

So that was it!

Short sweet and sincere.

It made my day! Geddy was so nice again.

I have another story that I wish I could share on this forum but it's way to private. Let's just say I'm a very lucky human with the "Success Under Pressure" with Geddy. I love him and I am blessed.

Well, not when it comes to A's baseball.

So to wrap this thread up in a tight Blue Jay bow....

The A's took the lead in the top of the 11th? 4-1. Thought I was going to avoid the sweep.

Then our fake the Blake All Star closer served up a meatball. Three run bomb.

Then a 5-4 Jays walk off! My heart was crushed, but alas it didn't matter! I still had a magical weekend in Toronto.

My third time.

If I retire soon I am thinking about buying a one bedroom condo there.

I'm hooked!

I love Toronto!

I love to "FLY BY NIGHT" into YYZed"

I'm serious. I really do.

I'm a "Night Owl" Get it?

Hahaha! Been terrorizing the East Coast on here for 13 years!!!

Drink some coffee and enjoy this thread.

Or it's ok. Just ignore it.

RUSH RULES FOR ALL ETERNITY!

All I can say if you don't get out there and take risks in life, you never know what you might miss.

I am blessed Johnny Blaze. Take your "cursed" crap and bury in a Pet Semetary.

Oh and yes Chica and Lorraine. You are both so sweet.

If I do write a book some year and I will. You will both get a copy for free.

Some need urn for "The Big Money!"

I just wanna live my life the way it's going and have fun!

Life is short.

'May The Fourth Be With You" all.

Yep..

That day is coming.

RUSH ON!

I am out!

Jet Lag rules!

Khris Davis as the Neil Peart of baseball? Makes sense, Khris's ability to hit .247 every year is the closest thing baseball has to a metronome.

I've never heard of Davis to be unnecessarily rude to anyone though.

Toronto will never be the same.

And The Loose Moose will never be the same. :)

From now until eternity, every once in a while you will walk into the bar and hear someone asking the question: Remember that guy Earl from California that was here once?

The proper response: "Was he a character or what? Closed the bar the first night. The second night he kept talking about some book he was writing. And something about a chapter in it on something called TRF. What the hell is that? Ya think it's a disease or something?"

PS: I am way too tired to edit my thread.

Could contain spelling errors.

That's life.

RUSH IS THE GREATEST BAND IN THE UNIVERSE!!!!

Ed - Awesome story - I am worried for Oakland that Treinen is injured....velo down a few ticks and he cant hit his spots....Toronto for some reason has Oakland's number...

Laureano is worth the price of admission. I think A's need to trade and get Jed Lowrie back from the mets lest they put him on the DL perpetually

Khris Davis slumping since the white hot start. Starting pitching? Bullpen is looking sketch - Rodney and Soria are over the hump...why dont I see Trivino in high leverage situations????

Memory loss again? Reminder: the “blessed and cursed” line is yours, not mine.

I know JB! I funked up again. I know I penned the line, but stole from Neil Peart lyrics.

I just wrote about it in another thread.

All good quasi biographer.

If I really do retire this year I will be writing my screenplay and probably a book.

I will ask 73 for all of my posts, threads and polls since 2006.

All the drama and bullshit. All of the love and the hate for rushhead.

Compiled in one book for all to read.

A Rush Forum 2021 Rushhead666 Book Tour!

Autographed copies hardbound will be available for all to read.

Oh and it's not about greed or making money.

I'm be fine.

21.12 USD per book.

All sales of my book will go to Grapes For Humanity.

I have a lot of work to do, but I have many ideas and thoughts.

To the haters out there, I have just one thing to say..................

Look into the wilderness of mirrors and gaze into your own broken soul of EGO, INSECURITY and PROJECTION!

Crack the mirror like TOMMY and leave me the fukk alone.

I'm a good person.

Even good people can say FUKK.

RUSH ON!

I love your breakdown of the A's.

They are shit, yet came alive last night in Shittsburg!

Khris hasn't hit a bomb since he signed that fukking two year extension.

Killing me!!

RUSH RULES!

It's crazy! I love the LOOSE MOOSE!

I went back for a few beers around 1 am but I starting talking the ear off a bouncer there.

I missed last call, but fukk it! I had an amazing intellectual conversation with a wonderful guy! Even bouncers like me! LOL!

Amazing trip!

I can't wait to go back.

Hoping for this summer! Catch a few more ball games and say hi to Geddy!

Just teasing you Earl. But I am sure that you left a memorable impression wherever you went in Toronto. You are one of a kind. :)

I know my dear friend. I know you are kidding. I love it! You can roast my balls all you want. You are a real friend and the real deal on here!

I am one of a kind,

"FACE UP!" LOL!

There are only a few jerk offs on here. Otherwise 73's House is very clean.

Love you Lorraine!

It's not about the amount of how many RUSH shows you see.

It's about passion and love for a band that you have loved since you were a kid.

I mean no disrespect to anyone on this forum, but I am the biggest Rush fan in the world.

I need to keep my source private, but Geddy actually knows this.

LOL!

I may be outlandish and a jerk, but I am very honest.

Take it for what it's worth.

RUSH IS IT!

DUHHHHHHHHHHHH

Another amazing post about the A's!

At least the A's woke up their bats tonight!

Still worried about KHRUSH!

Isn't it funny?

I'm a RUSH guy and a KHRUSH guy.

When I was in Toronto pep talking to my A's behind the net everyone ignored me except Khris.

On Saturday Khris gave me a wink and a smile.

On Sunday Khris give me a nod and a smile.

Before that I looked to my left and said hello to Geddy.

He gave me a wave and a smile. Then a nod.

Incredible.

I hope Davis can wake up and get out of his money coma.

He's a great guy. Very closed off to the public like Neil.

I was surprised he was receptive to me.

Regardless..

RUSH ON!

Toronto has a new area named Ramertown.

Hundreds of new parents are naming their children Earl...

...boys and girls.

:)

How about Earlville?

"Earlville Slugger" LOL!

Now a baseball reference.

Love it.
