I Stopped At Fry's Electronics Today On My Way Into Work And You Won't Believe what Was Playing On Their Store Audio System........

"SHOW DON'T TELL!"

It was so surreal to me.

I rarely ever go into Fry's Electronics and yet there I was surfing the blu-ray section and all of the sudden from the distance I heard "Show Don't Tell" on the store's overhead stereo system.

Perhaps not worthy to thread about here but man I was actually shocked.

You know all the Rush standards that are always on the radio.

But "Show Don't Tell" on some satellite or music program in a big retail store in 2019?

Pleasantly surprised.

Oh and of course, I didn't leave Fry's until the song was over.

Rush Karma baby!

FOREVER!

Great lyrics:

How many times do you hear it?

It goes on all day long

Everyone knows everything

And no one's ever wrong

Until later

Who can you believe?

It's hard to play it safe

But apart from a few good friends

We don't take anything on faith

Until later

Show Don't Tell

Did it sound better than usual? Like beefier bass and sharp and heavy drums and ripping guitar?

Hahahaha! Love you Ducky! It sounded faint and in the background. It sounded like shit.

I couldn't even air drum in the store and hit those splashes.

LOL!

I was still amazed.

I mean really?

"Presto" came out in 1989. Duh!

I saw that tour four times.

So in 2019 I hear "Show Don't Tell" in some electronic store? Totally random.

What are the odds?

"FACE UP" BABY!

Roll those bones.

I believe in things happening for a reason.

I never go to Fry's.

"Against All Odds"

That's a good song. I think I'll go listen to it now.

Thanks, Earl! :)

You are welcome my dear friend.

I was in love with "Hold Your Fire" when it came out. I was only 20 years young. The A's lost to the fuckkng Dodgers in the World Series. Kirk Gibson killed my soul.

But alas Rush kept my heart beating. Pun intended. To this day "Hold Your Fire" is one of the greatest albums to play to on the drums.

But then what??

PRESTO!

I will never forget when I bought "Presto."

I listened to that opening riff on "Show Don't Tell" and my body started to quake.

I can understand people on this public forum ripping me for not liking "Vapor Trails"

I loved that record when it came out.

Hell I saw that tour 5 times. I met Neil Peart on that tour.

But YUCK!

Give me "Presto" anyday."

It's such a fun album to play on the drums too!

Seriously?

The "Presto" Tour was the last tour where Neil had the double bass.

I remember seeing the gig in Oakland.

After the show I hid stage right way in the back above Neil's kit.

I stared and stayed there in awe.

The kit was so fuckking huge even then.

It blew my mind.

So underrated.

"Presto."

I hated it when Neil went to a single bass drum with a lame double kick pedal.

I HATE IT!

God bless Freddie Gruber but I really didn't like it when Neil changed up his drumming style.

It KILLED ME!

I thank the fail at the Buddy Rich Memorial Celebration.

"Cottontail?"

Are you kidding me???

Neil was stiffer than John Holmes in a porno with Ginger Lynn!

But it is what it is.

Even "Counterparts" which for my ears is the last Rush masterpiece.

Neil had a single kick. Double pedal.

UGH!!!!!

Nothing touches those TAMA years.

The beautiful red kid on the lake tapestry.

Melts my soul.

Man crushes are real.

Bromances?

"I LOVE YOU MAN?"

I love Neil Peart."

I love Mike Portnoy.

Everyone makes mistakes.

It's "Human Nature."

Love,

Michael Jackson

How easy (or hard) is it to play the drums on High Water? It messes with my mind!

Yes that's a great line. One of my favourite NP lines comes later in the song

You can twist perceptions

Reality won't budge

You can raise objections

I will be the judge

And the jury

It's so true too.

hmm.

does someone not know what the word alas means?

It’s Irish for “a chick”.

Aye a lass for sure. Having been under her duress

I prefer "Duress Under Pressure."

Wait, I get it.

I'm jet lagged!

I want to be under her dress too.

"Dress Under Pressure"

Marylin Monroe

Get it?

This forum has just been a creative writing experiment for me since 2006.

Glad I made a lot of friends along the way and passed many people off!!!

Regression of the MEAN!

Can't be friends with everyone, but I am that kind of guy in Toronto. LOL!

Ironic how a California dork can be so "cool and cast out" in Canada.

I love Canada.

I've learned sooooo much about Canada and Toronto.

Toronto is my JAM!

Can't wait to go back!!!

Ciao

I took Air Canada on this trip. Soooooo much better than any US airline.

I'll save that for my upcoming thread.

If I remember.
