greyfriar
Two newer bands, two signature obsessions. The legal heirs of Rush vs. the legal heirs of Zep (Made in the US of A). :smoke:Now let the curtain fall... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9iGmA_MiSI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86_vnQc1oBE
Union 5-3992
YYNOT isn't nearly as much of a blatant rip off so I'll give them the nod.
goose
Killer poll idea! :ebert: Greta slays YYNot head to head here. Edited November 1, 2018 by goose
J2112YYZ
YYNOT isn't nearly as much of a blatant rip off so I'll give them the nod. Yep. The Rush influence is obvious but they do have their own thing going on way more than the fleet does.
J2112YYZ
I would have picked Hourglass or Kingdom Come from YYNOT for this though. EDIT: I'm an idiot just noticed that both song titles are similar lol. Edited November 1, 2018 by J2112YYZ
J2112YYZ
There's also a genuineness in what YYNOT does that I don't get with Gretta. Especially with the vocals.

bluefox4000
YYNot. both are clear copycats but YYNot has a flavor that sets them a bit apart. Mick
Stormtron
I can't really get into either band. There's a sterileness to YYNot that's off-putting to me, and Greta Van Fleet sounds a bit too much like Zeppelin. Segue Myles
I wouldn't say YYNot are copycats, they have that strong influence which is sensible as they gained followers as a covers band, but the album has a lot of their own style and sound. But I wouldn't call Greta copycats either. I cannot think of a single Led Zeppelin album that this new album sounds like.

Prefer Greta.... and why not? The Yynot sound is too clinical or something for me Edited November 1, 2018 by condemned2bfree

Turbine Freight
Should be a neither as both are equally dire option in the poll, grey.
JARG
First time ever hearing Greta. I prefer the swagger of their song.
greyfriar
I've tried very hard to get into the Greta album, but as soon as the guy starts to sing it's over for me. Absolutely not my cup of tea. The YYNot album isn't a sonic revelation, but I instantly liked some of their songs.Since I got both albums last weekend they are still very new to me, but I think that my opinion would not change anytime soon. Wil1972
It's funny hearing Rush fans complain about Greta's singer. It's no worse than early Ged. They are Zep clones but still fun. Better than a lot of what's out there on the radio these days.

The main complaint about the guy from Gretta is that he's a complete Robert Plant copycat.

No. First of all, you must be gifted to be able to hit those notes AT ALL. Secondly, he also sounds at times like John Anderson and Geddy Lee. He is a great new talent.
