Summer tour. Unfortunately, they are co-headling with Korn. Maybe AIC will be on first (which would be highly disrespectful) and I can leave early.

I really enjoy this album, seven months later. It's held up. Better than the album previous. There's elements of many previous works of AIC in it. The songs they chose from Rainy Fog at the latest concert were great live.

Love him or hate him, DuVall is integral to AIC at this point. He has played more shows with them than Layne ever dreamed of.

"Fly" is my personal favorite from the record.

The new album is definitely better than their last one. There are no bad songs on Dinosaurs but there are three or four tunes that really didn't need to be on it. They trimmed the fat on Rainier Fog and it's a much better listen because of that.

There isn’t an option between awesome and meh?? I quite like the album. I put it on par with Black Gives Way To Blue, both of those over The Devil Put...

I realized that when I went to add my vote yesterday. Not sure what I was thinking when I first posted it.

Has anyone seen their current tour with Korn? I am going to see them on Friday and was just curious if they rotate who closes every show since it's co-headling or does the same band close each show. I wouldn't mind not having to sit through Korn if AIC is first.

You might enjoy Korn, they have more in common with AiC then most AiC fans want to admit. ;)

What would that be? Also, I would highly doubt that after 20 plus years of thinking Korn is crap that seeing them live would change my mind.

The last couple albums are so compressed they actually hurt my ears to listen to them.

I think Rainier Fog is pretty solid with its production. Much better than the previous two. I still don't understand why that production method is so popular over the last decade? I honestly believe that the record producers and bands hear something completely different than the fans do and they actually think it sounds right.

It's now been two decades. Vapor Trails was the first album that ruined the appreciation of the music because of the loudness wars, but it started sometime in the 1990s. Death Magnetic later (2007) became the poster child for the problem, so I guess until it happens to Metallica fans it's not actually an issue. :P

The loudness wars still rage on, but the production tools are getting better and so the issue tends to get masked more. I have a few fairly loud recordings from the past few years that I don't mind, and think sound 'good' despite being examples of the 'problem'. Rainier Fog would certainly be one of them, it's an enjoyable recording.

Saw them last night and they were really good. No bullshitting around they just walked out and stage and played a great set. The big bonus is that they were on first so I didn't have to see Korn. Life is good sometimes. The only thing that bothered me was all the old stuff was played slightly slower for some reason. It gave everything a more doomy feel but it also made some of the songs drag a bit. Especially on mellower songs like No Excuses and Rooster. The crowd was ahead of them when singing along. But the all the Duvall material was played at normal pace. Not sure what's going on but I don't remember the Layne stuff being slowed down when I saw them on the last tour. Great setlist selection though as they did their best to cover all their studio releases. Sap was the only one not represented.

Here's the set for those who care.

Sometimes its easier for a singer to hit a note at a slower tempo, so that could be it maybe. And maybe they've only just started slowing them down because they're getting older or something?

That's what I was thinking. They're all in their 50s now. Maybe it's just easier all around to play things a little slower. It reminded me of how Rush slowed down Limelight on the S&A tour.
